That is good reference, However, I feel that, you can include 'digg,stumbleupon' inside social bookmarks. Apart from that, that post really gives good knowledge for a newbie in SEO & Link building.

Your last suggestion "renting links" via Text ads links website, is that a black hat seo technique. Will google penalise me for using that service?

There are many way to build backlinks, Commenting, Bookmarking, Yahoo Answer, and there too many of them i can't say. All things we have to do is be Creative, that's all.

Posting questions in sites like YAHOO Answers sound like an interesting idea. I actually haven't tried that one. I think I will.

Yeah, Thats a good list. Link building is the most critical part of SEO, once you are through wih the same you have made half the way to money station.
