I'm in the process of building a website called Tri Addicts. It will be selling t-shirts and some other gear for triathletes, as well as have a blog for interesting articles about triathlons (in case you're not sure what a triathlon is it's a race where people swim, bike and then run to the finish. Very difficult, hardcore and intense). So I need a good logo. If you look up triathlon logos, you'll see that most use a pretty standard set of images of a stick person swimming, biking and running. I want to do something more abstract and different than that that uses more of the elements involved in swimming, biking, and running rather than the same old stick figures. I have a logo that i sort of pieced together myself but it doesn't look very clean or professional in my opinion. At the very least I would want it redone and vectorized and have it look very clean so it would look good if printed on a t-shirt. (i.e. all the spaces between the gear and the splash to be uniform etc.) The Logo I have is here. While I like the stand alone logo without text or any fancy web 2.0 stuff because i think it looks kind of like a stamp that you could put on anything. I would also be interested in seeing other logo ideas with Tri Addict text in it. I would want it to look a little grungy and again try to incorporate the elements of a triathlon somehow in a subtle kind of way (water, bike wheels/gears/tread, running shoes/treads etc). I'd like to keep the logo in Black & white and shades of gray, but perhaps try a red or orange as an accent color. $20 goes to the winning logo. Contest will last until 7pm PT tomorrow night. I will give as much feedback as i can, so feel free to make as many submissions as you like. If no entries are useable, no winner will be awarded and contest will be reposted.
Askag...thanks for your submission. I like it but it's too busy. There's way too much going on. i need something simpler. Stellah - Again a little too busy with all spirals and colors. Plus i see the water and maybe the cycling aspects but not the running.
Humorous, I love the simplicity of your entry. But it only shows a runner. I need the logo to show all three events, biking and swimming as well as running. If you can incorporate those into the logo i think it's great. gipanuhotko, I appreciate the color changes, but i was mores concerned with cleaning up the negative space than the color. Those gradient colors won't print well on t-shirts and stuff and that's the basis for the website.
Askag - better though i'm not really a fan of the goggles. It looks kind of odd. And the gear looks more like a saw than the gears on a bike, since you can't see the inner gears. Maybe change that to an actual tire and add some water instead of goggles? Stellah - it's still a little too busy and a little to angular and I don't really like the font much. As i mentioned in my original post, it should be something easily transferred to print and i think that would be really difficult. Denver - The idea for the logo was to NOT used the stick figures of people swimming biking and running. Plus the little triangles make it look like a biohazard symbol with that orange color. Tops Idea - same for you. I wanted to NOT use the stick people and the i'm not a fan of the font either.
Humorous - I like the simplicity again, but i think having the three separate circles doesn't look as good as the one circle between the Tri and Addicts. If you can somehow incorporate some kind of symbol for all three events into one circle...it would be great. Askag - thanks for all your tries and this one is better. But still, i don't think it will print well because of the gradient shading and without that, i think it would looks strange in B&W. Scorpion agency - I actually love that. I think the font works well and the symbol is unique and simple. And i like that you actually read my post and used the orange as a small accent color. My one bit of feedback is that the symbol doesn't exactly portray swimming, biking or running. I'd be curious to see some other symbols but overall i like it a lot.
