I need a register form. Below is an example I made in VB6.0 The requirements below are the same for almost all register forms. I'm just listing them to prevent any confusion and to make sure you know. Requirements: - If e-mail is already in the database, red text should appear above the e-mail box that says "Error: This e-mail is already registered." - After the user enters their e-mail and chooses a password, it needs to display "To protect against spam and fake e-mails, a confirmation e-mail has been sent to the address you provided and should arrive in a few minutes. Once you have confirmed your e-mail address your account will be activated." - Each new member added to the database needs to be sent a confirmation e-mail with an activation link. If the user clicks the activation link, the email and password will be activated. If the user DOES NOT click the activation link, the e-mail and password will not have access to the site. - The confirmation needs to be fully automated, just like a forum. - Active accounts need to be stored in .txt database with the email and passwords like this: email: password: examplepass email: password: examplepass2 Like that. ONLY FOR ACTIVATE ACCOUNTS. - Must work flawlessly for all browsers, macs, and all windows versions. - Activated accounts that login to the site must be taken to "main.html" - Access to main.html needs to be restricted and secure. - Only emails and passwords that have been confirmed by clicking an activation link sent to the e-mail the user provides should be able to login. If they don't click the activation link, they should not be able to use their e-mail and password to login or get access to main.html - If a password is entered that is under 6 characters or longer than 16 characters, red text should be displayed saying "Your password must be between 6 and 16 characters in length" -------------------------- Info: Please ask for any information.
lol this is quite a writeup for such a simple thing I'd offer to do it, not really because 20 bucks is worth the time, but it's so simple and it'd give me something to do before jumping back into my huge C++ project that is consuming the next 3-6 months of my life lol. The only thing on there that I would STRONGLY advise against is a text file of the passwords. When I write these kinds of systems, there is NEVER, EVER, EVER a clear text way to read the passwords, as there should never be and it's pure bullshit to have it that way. It's not only insecure, but it's kind of dirty and I get pissed everytime i find out a site has my password clearly visible (hence I use shit passwords if I think the site is crap). I would refuse to do this entirely on the basis of storing passwords in realtext. You should really evaluate WHY you are wanting to even read the passwords (that seems a little sketchy to me in all honesty), because the db should contain an encrypted form of a password that no one has access to or knows but the user who wrote it.
Well if all you want is a simple PHP signup form that has a list of users and emails, that's kiddie work If you don't have anyone to do it in the next 6 hours, feel free to send me a PM or an email and I will spend 5 minutes and whip it up for you
...with a confirmation email sent to the address entered and restricted access until the user clicks the activation link inside the confirmation email...???
Dont Hotmail/Yahoo users usually tend NOT to receive such verification emails? If so you may wish to re-consider this, as it can result in a loss of potential members. Your requirements are rather simple, Im sure if you Google'd it, you could get a working example.
