What is the best strategy (my topic is construction): To build 20 or more niche sites (bricks = 1 site, floor materials = 1 site, heating devices = 1 site, etc.) or to make one big site with all the content? Each page on my site/sites are optimized for one or two specific keywords. My articles are ok, but not outstanding. I'm therefore worried about how many inbound links I'll get for each article. I know that I can generate lots of links for the main page of each site and around 5 pages (since I have an article feed that can be submitted to blog directories, etc.). I do of course want visitors to find me on all the keywords I have optimized for. I'm therefore worried about making a big site, since I might end up with 200 pages without any inbound links Any recommendations? Thank you, mads
I would make one large site. Your homepage may never rank high for a particular keyword, but all of the pages dedicated to a specific keyword should. All incoming links to these internal pages will raise the page rank of the entire site (assuming you use good internal linking). It would be much more difficult to get the same performance from individual sites.
There will not be several pages dedicated to a specific keyword. Instead each page will be dedicated a specifc, unique set of keywords (1-2). I wonder how many incomming links I'll receive. It's not going to be a spam site, but it might be obvious that construction isn't excactly my speciality (just found a nice niche with little competition in this topic).
I would definitely say that one big site with lots of content is better than a bunch of smaller sites. Personally, I'd rather go to one well designed, big site that try to find several smaller ones, especially when the content is so related as in your case.
one big site....if the content is related, users can browse to different areas of the site to see related materials....and it is easier to seo on big site for 20 keywords than to seo 20 different site for one keyword each
One big site definatley just make sure you seo the other pages and not only this but you will get more visitors on a regular basis due to the fact its covering the whole of construction instead of just one area.
I think you'll find that the vast majority will advise on one big site. Another reason would be hosting for all your small sites. If you were seeking to get their reputation up by linking to each other, SE's will actually take into account where they're hosted and even who owns them. So, they wouldn't give you as much credit with small sites as they'd know they were all yours. That is, unless you hosted them all with different hosts and registered them all under different people. A pain to say the least. Also, your keyword/page SEO plan sounds good, but I would advise that you stick to only one keyword per page. 1-2 isn't terrible, depending on what they are and their relative difficulty, but it's advised that you do 1 per page. Good luck.
I prefer many than only one, seem a more safer way since many ways to Rome, golden words from our ancesters
