i don't like the layout,i love clean designs but this is to simple, looks like it was made by someone with no graphic talent like a programmer for example, for 20$ you can get much better layouts

as for the idea,it's kind of interesting but i don't think its gona catch on,i'm not going to comeback to this site...ever.

When I first surfed my way over to MyMoodBook.com I was pleasantly greeted by 4 rather intriguing smiley avatar characters. One had an angry face, one looked rather nerdy, one had a beef and looked rather intoxicated whilst the last one looked like it was going to be sick. Not to be discouraged I scrolled down the page to see just exactly I had gotten myself into.

According to MyMoodBook, they are a place to “share your mood with friends”. How exactly are you supposed to share your mood with friends you may ask… and the answer is simple. With MyMoodBook you can place your current mood on your web pages, MySpace profiles, Xanga profiles, and basically any social networking site you’re a member of. You can also message your friends, sort friends by the mood they are in as well as upload pictures to describe your mood. As the age old homage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Areas that looked rather dull and needed work definitely stand around the login panel, which consists of a big group of oval hotspot buttons embedding in a vector image. Not your AJAX professional by any means, however it still did its job. Other things confusing were the lack of available links. The only thing I could really do is Signup, Login or Search. Search for what exactly, I do not know. There were also a myriad of new members, however they all looked to be the same since nobody had a unique avatar. A suggestion would be to implement avatars that the user can pick upon registration, that way you can give the main page some flare.

Other than these grey areas the site looked pretty good, and definitely captivated my attention with the four smiley icons. With some minor tweaks and some easier navigation i am sure this site will be well on its way to success in no time.

    Ok so here goes:

    Content

I love the list which tells us everything about the site, although for the last few options perhaps put a bit more "sales pitch" into it. So for example instead of "Messaging options" say "use instant messaging to portray your mood to your friends!" (obviously I don't know what you mean by "messaging options" which is perhaps the main problem.)

I think perhaps a page of Features might give us a little bit more information. This can be a page with screenshots of the different uses of the program, I think this would encourage me personally to use your site. It's very hard to sign up to something when you don't really know what you are signing up to.

    Design

This is by far and away one of the nicest looking sites I've seen in a long time, I love the M&M-esque icons on the front page, they are brilliant. The navigation looks cool and is not over complicated. The bright colours are great since after all you are promoting a product to show peoples moods. I like the font on the header and in general I think the colours work really well.

    Loading

This is a major problem for your site at the moment, it looks great, but unfortunately it just takes too long to load. The bottom half of the front page loads very slowly (assumedly because of the different icons) and that stops me from really knowing what to expect from the site. The sign up page also took a fair bit of time to load. Overall its a bit of a shame because I almost felt like I was waiting for each individual picture to load.

    Opinion

Great site, great idea. With a bit of tweaking this will get a lot of promotion because of its great design and quirky pictures. In fact, I almost signed up to the site, the only thing was I didn't really know what to use it for :)

Hope that satisfies your need for a review...

The images are quite good, tough they are a bit like sweets, they moods arent very understandable you maybe should maybe use words like Angry, Sneaky, Dizy... the layout is a bit simple needs some improvement (a border would be nice); the content

Overall Score: 27.5 out of a possible 40 points; Good site

When I stumbled upon MyMoodBook, I was surprised. I was surprised how different it was from any other website I have ever seen. A whole site dedicated to peoples moods is a unique strategy for a website.

The site is very creative. Like I said above, this site is based around peoples moods and feelings and that's just something you don't see everyday. I like how it lists the latest registrations on the homepage. It shows the website has captured other peoples interest. The smilies at the top of the page all show different emotions; mad, nerdy, sickly and joyful. Those are all emotions of people today, and it really defines the website really well.

The one thing I can't say I like 100% is the layout (the style, look, etc) of the site. It is a flat layout, and the colors don't mix together so well like others do. Maybe if you:

    • a.) change the color scheme to something that may fit in a little better
    • b.) change the homepage to match the member control panel. I feel the control panel looks much better color scheme wise, and would probably go over better matching.

I noticed the footer has a gray color to it, but there is no other gray color like that on the rest of the site. You should consider adding the same shade of gray to another part of the homepage, just so it matches. If I was going to do it, I would separate the main content box into three parts:

    • The section "What is MyMoodBook ?" and all the information below that could be colored in the same shade of yellow as the logo.
    • The section "Latest Members»" and all the information below should stay the same.
    • The "Latest Mood»" and all the information below that should be colored in the same shade of gray as the footer. Just so there would be something to match with the footer.

If you need a reference of what I said above, please refer to my screenshot I took.

When I browse through the user control panel, I have to say it looks nice. There are a lot of options, and a lot of things to keep you busy for a good while. It even has a blog, which was unexpected for me. As a matter of fact, this site has a lot of unexpected things to do. That's what's great about it, and this is why everyone should consider checking out MyMoodBook.com.
