I'm really tired of Paypal. I'm selling digital goods and some "......" people chargebacks when you deliver the item. I understand that paypal doesn't protect digital good sellers from chargeback, ok. But what the f is 20$ chargeback fee? Paypal scammed me 20$ for 25$ item. OMG I will never use it again. My profit 5$ for this item but now I'm -35$ THANK YOU VERY MUCH PAYPAL. Edit: I forgot to ask, can we prevent payments with credit cards? I would like to accept only from funds.
i have done it before where I sold something to a forum member, i noticed a drop in the % of the received funds, so I knew it was a credit card so i sent back the funds and asked them to resend either from paypal balance or from a bank account attached to paypal and they did. Perhaps you can do this, dont allow users to auto download, so that you have time to review their details prior to downloading and decide to reject their payment. What sucks about paypal is that I have heard of business having chargebacks done at the 90day mark, add on top of that any chargeback fees and it is a nightmare! But, if there is a way to prevent accepting credit cards on paypal then I too would be very very interested. @cracker007 - When people send money, I dont think it shows the receiver if it was sent as a "gift" or other.
PayPal get charged the fee by the card acquirer visa/mastercard. So they are just passing this on to you.
I read lots of Paypal horror stories where people are asked to pay good amount of chargeback fee plus currency conversion rates in some rare cases and Paypal mostly wont even keep things transparent on how they are fighting back the chargeback, they would just throw a mail saying they tried hard to fight against the credit card company but they could not save your $s and will take fee for the same.
What's the problem? Is this only for users in certain countries? I've had my PayPal account for seven years and done hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of transactions using it and had chargebacks falsely opened against me several times, some I won, some I lost, but I've never been charged any fee aside from the transaction amount being disputed?
The chargeback fee applies if the user paid with a credit card rather than PayPal Balance. PayPal Disputes do not have any additional fee above the transaction cost.
I have paid with a credit card and had to dispute before and never received this "chargeback fee". Maybe it's only for users in certain countries.
The fee is charged to the seller not the buyer. So you filing a chargeback will have meant the seller incurred this fee.
