2 years of Article Marketing and Free Directory Submission = nothing really

Ive tried article marketing now for almost 2 years, in that amount of time I have submitted like 140 articles to tons of article sites, hundreds, the top ones such as buzzle, ezine articles, I snare (including their submission service), I have also submited my site(s) to over 300 article directories. Now using these methods I have seen my site(s) trafffic stay about the same or maybe increase just a trickle over the past 2 years.

I am now going to try a lot of forum, blog comments with urls and maybe a little more directory submission, I am wanting more traffic :( I tell ya getting traffic is damn hard......... and takes a LOT of work, hundreds and hundreds of hours so far for really just a trickle of traffic

well you can spend as long as you want doing something with little or no results - IF YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG

Do you know for sure that your articles were optimized for search engines and did you link the right keywords to your website,e tc?

I can operate on kidneys all day long but it doesn't mean I'll get good results if i haven't learned how to do it right in the first place...internet marketing just isn't everyone's thing.

Are you talking about the fishing stringer site?

If so you need more content to your site. Perhaps a paragraph on the home page that states what the site is about. Something to convey that a human has put time and effort in to this site and they can learn something there.

Just a thought hope it helps!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Good move trying other things. I like article marketing and still do it several times a month, but now combine it with blogging and social bookmarking, forum marketing, traffic exchanges, etc.

Here is a great free ebook on Web 2.0 and getting traffic.....

Why aren't you putting up ads in as many locations as humanly possible?

Free ways to get traffic is great, obviously, but not if you are putting in more hours while making less than a gas station attendant.

Article marketing works very little. It can get you some traffic, but normally not much unless you get your article on a good place in a high traffic site. The backlinks from articles don't count for much as each article will only give you a few backlinks these days due to Googles better performing duplicate content filter. They don't count backlinks if the content is filtered out of their index, either that or they don't give much weight to them at all.

Web directories are also not quite as good as they use to be. I have even noticed a lot of link exchanges getting their pages where the link exchanges are taking place, penalized from Google.

Wow, 2 years. That's what I call persistance. Why not try throwing out a broad net of marketing? Test to see which kinds of marketing work out for you and then concentrate on those.

Article marketing still works, but there are so many other ways of marketing that you should be trying.

With your article marketing, are you testing your results? Are you going back to Google and checking that you appear with a high rank for your chosen keyword phrases? If you are, are you checking whether these phrases are actually searched?

But good on you for considering other things as well! Article marketing is not something that should be done on its own for long term business prosperity.
