2 x Jewellery Sites ecommerce & adsense £60k year revenue UK based

I may be looking to sell my wholesale ecommerce jewellery sites for a reasonable offer. I am based in the UK and ship inventory myself to customers using royal mail and parcelforce. The sites sell jewellery silver, gold, watches, fashion jewellery plus packaging jewellery boxes and display sundries to other jewellery retailers. So you will need a spare room to store stock or this will be a perfect edition for an existing jewellery business wishing to expand.

The websites make $5000 per year in adsense revenue (from 2 sites and a subdomain on one of the sites that makes $500 in adsense alone for the subdomain)
Plus around £60,000-£75,000 a year turnover on selling actual stock. The turnover has varied from year to year 2003 £55k, 2004 £77k, 2005 £60k but is stable. Main website has been up since 2001 and brings most traffic.
The profit varies on items from 30% - 300% but on average works out around 100% so around £25k profit per year after expenses on selling stock. Revenue includes some sales of our stock on ebay which helps bring more customers to the site.

Full database of existing and repeat buyer customers included.
We do not use any paid online advertising at all, all website customers are from search engines or repeat customers.

Remaining stock must be sold on top of business price at suppliers cost.
Approx. £50,000-£60,000 (cost to me from the importers,manufacturers & suppliers) worth of stock is to be sold at the suppliers cost to the buyer on top of price for the business and sites. The remaining unsold stock at time of business sale will be checked thouroughly and the exact cost of remaining stock charged on top of business price. I am sole trader vat registered so there will be VAT on top of the stock cost.
Stock includes a lot of stock that I have not had time to list on the sites , so just by listing the new stock on the site it will give the sites a massive boost for the xmas period.

We use suppliers,manufacturers and importers in the UK for most of the jewellery, watches and jewellery display packaging items but have also used suppliers in india and abroad to import some of our own silver and other jewellery. All details of suppliers and importers will be supplied with the sale (many suppliers have online ordering and low minimum orders for easy stock buying when required)

I recommend a UK based buyer as the inventory will need to be collected from us in the UK. Will be at least a couple of pallets of watches display sundries and fashion jewellery as well as a lot of silver , diamond and gold jewellery

Main site gets around 8000 uniques /month (500 hits a day)
Second site gets around 3000 uniques /month

One site is hosted by a hosting company that looks after the secure ordering, domain fees, hosting, ssl and with good support for £199 per year. The other site is with a host and completely run by myself using oscommerce.
I currently use a combination of paypal,nochex and my own merchant account to process credit card payments online. Also some payments are sent in by cheque.

At the moment I am just seeing if anyone would be interested. Reason for selling is that I have other commitments. This business with a bit more promotion could expand massively, but I don't have the time to do this, it has massive potential to go further.

So why exactly are you selling? "Other commitments" doesn't sound very reassuring.

 

I am selling because I have other websites that I am working on and moving more over to making revenue from ads on my other sites, rather than shipping actual inventory from these jewellery sites.
With some more promotion and maybe using adwords you could increase the revenue for these sites a lot. I have never tried using adwords on these sites and the customers and sales are all from search engines at the moment.

Is this quality jewellery and watches or cheap or mixed?

 

The jewellery is 9 carat gold, sterling silver, 18 carat gold diamond rings, and branded watches as well as fashion jewellery and lower priced watches.

 

You don't seem to have accounted for the value of the time spent running the business.

If it makes £25K but is a full time job then it's not really making any profit at all! I suspect that dealing with orders, shipping, handling customer service, doing VAT returns etc for a £70K business dealing in high value items would take at least 20-30 hours a week. Estimate one employee at about £15K. Then add £5K for secure storage (we're talking £50K's worth of stock!), hosting, accountant, business rates etc., are you saying you will sell the business for £5K (one year's profits)?

If you're using bank finance for the stock (which is typically what you'd account for) then that £5,000 goes in interest for the money tied up in stock. Is this business making any profit at all (in the "proper" sense of the term)?

 

Its not a full time job. If you put more time into it the turnover would be a lot higher. Its because I don't have the time to put into the site that I am looking to sell. Not sure exactly what you mean about the profit etc.
Currently I am only spending about a day a week filling orders for the business.
If the site is promoted more extensively and you have the time the revenue can be increased substantially.
