Me and my buddy share an internet connection. He wants to become a user on this forum as he always see's me using it. But i know your not allowed to have more then 1 username. Is there anyway that he can signup and be active on the forums even though we are from the same ip? We use different computers though.
From the FAQ/Rules Under no circumstances whatsoever are duplicate/additional accounts allowed. You are allowed one account per lifetime. If you are in a situation where you are going to be sharing an IP address with other (real) people, please let us know before we catch you. People using the same IP address (co-workers/family members, etc.) should also stay out of each other's Buy/Sell/Trade threads and should never exchange iTrader with each other (this will be seen as a duplicate/fake account). DON.
If I'm not mistaken, It's allowed as long as you will tell to the mods upfront before your brother sign up using the same IP and the most important thing is you guys don't participate on the same threads.
Yes, i too feel the moderator has given some flexibility by asking us to let him know about IP sharing and also not to indulge in any trading business here. Has anyone reported these kind of issues to the admin and got his approval. I'm looking for some instances here. Just curious
Then you have nothing to worry about because your modem will assign 2 different IP addresses one for each PC. fastreplies
If you're in the same local network your local IP's will be different but the main IP from the router itself will be the same -- at least that's the case with most people here in Belgium. I'm having 2 computers here and they're both connected to the same wireless router, when posting on DP from both, they have the identical IP's. On a side-note, where should you report these kind of things? I mean, a moderator.. is there a specific one or not?
That is because you have wireless router. Even then this is weird because every PC network card has its own MIP. If you had your PCs hard wired, then you would have 2 different IPs. In our office we have multiple PCs and they all have different IP address. fastreplies
That's 100% true But I think they're just using the same method like I am using so that's the reason of my comment But it's correct about the 2 different IP's with wiring and even wireless it's also possible (in some cases).
You can PM any moderators. But read again deluxdon's post above what can't be done between you and your friend. - Dynashox -
