2 of the same words inside domain name bad for SEO? Got a company that wants to put the same word twice in the domain name, is there a flaw to this?
I don't think it's necessarily bad, but the extra instance of the keyword won't help their rankings extra. Search engines are careful not to penalize against certain factors such as domain name. This could lead to giving certain domains an advantage or disadvantage right out of the gate. If Google doesn't create an even playing field, they open themselves up to potential lawsuits.
Do you mean something like keywordphrasekeywordphrase.com or do you mean keywordphrase.com/keyword-phrase. While having a keyword rich domain name can be a plus for SEO, we've seen some quick results with these, but I wouldn't suggest overdoing it be putting the keyword twice in the domain. Plus you don't want to have a very long domain name, because it will be difficult to promote in other marketing.
I second this. If it's keywordkeyword.com, while it probably won't penalize you, it is extremely bad from a usability point of view (usually) and makes your domain name very long. If it's keyword.com/keyword then it's all fine, there's no problem with that. It probably won't affect your rankings though, so don't see this as a strategy that will make all the difference. Just make sure it doesn't look spammy.
