2 Niches in one blog?

Is it possible to maintain two niches in one blog? Is this a good idea?

For example, maintaining blogging tips and blogging for one's health at the same time.

Maybe I should slowly shift from one to the other? How do I do that?

    Any suggestions?

I am doing the same......I also have two niches, health and wealth concentrated on my single blog....

Of course, it is always better to have two separate blogs but then, I do not see any harm in keeping the same...together either.....just my opinion though.

I wouldn't recommend this; atleast not your example.
Maybe something more subtle, like "horror movie news" and "horror movie reviews." You see how much better it blends?

It is very possible but that won't be a niche blog anymore. It would be personal blog.

    HI there,

I would not suggest for it. As Blogging tips and Health are completely different niches and cannot be blended with each other. This could eventually distort the rhythm of the readers. You can have blog with two different niches but having some relationship between the two. For example, Health can be a good blend with Fitness Niche.

Well, the only way I would blog like that is if the two niches chosen would have a tiny bit similarity. Your example would be really hard to maintain.
If I was you, I would drop one niche, I wouldn't even bother to split it up in two separate blogs.

I think you should stick to the one niche. Unless it's just a personal blog.

    I personally wouldn't recommend it.

Why split the focus of your readers and muddy the waters? Concentrate on one niche at a time, and build that up. One niche at a time is all most marketers can effectively manage anyway.

I think focusing on one niche per blog will get you more mileage primarily because the reader profile for successful blog evolves with it and it will be hard to keep several niches alive at that point of blog's maturity.

I agree with most of the posters above, as I had the same problem before. It's hard to optimize SEO in a blog that has 2 non-related topics, and even harder to promote it elsewhere. I think the best thing to do is to stop creating contents for the other niche. But of course, don't delete them! Google may penalize you for that.

From my understanding of marketing practice,
    • you should segment your target customers into groups or niches,
    • decide on channels via which to contact each group, in your case you chosed a blog,
    • then carefully craft your message (unique selling proposition) which you now communicate to your customers via the channel you are using.
This means each of your target groups should have a unique channel with a unique message targeted at them.

In summary the answer to you question is No!. Don't use the same blog for two different customer groups or niches.

Of course it is possible to have two niches on a blog and I recommend it because you can cross-promote your niches and make even more money. For example, you could have a blog about taking care of pets and also have a niche of reviewing pet sitting establishments.

Well, there's big number of blogs concentrating only on:
    - blogging tips
    OR
    - health

...so your blog's focus could be lost. If you really think both of them are relevant to bloggers, then try tie them so that they really are somehow 'closer' to each other.

Or just stop writing about one?
