Great job! I especially like the donation idea, may have to "borrow" that one. Just curious, did you have the domain and it wasn't producing or did you find it in the "domain junkyard" and purchase it?
Another over used word - it's just a cliche - you don't need that niche .... yes he's doing something right, there's many of these opportunities available and yes even daily or hourly - you just have to know where to find them and work hard .... "Long tail keywords" for example compaq cq 50 139wm is highly popular at the moment and it's even in the top 10 most searched words for today - do you know how many results there are for this ? under 2000 .... You can find these all the time and simply attract those visitors ....
I have been able to do the same thing with one of my sites, its a great feeling, and i can understand why you made a thread about it. Well done... your beating my with money tho (for now) but i got more traffic than you in 2 months lol Hope you don't think i am hijacking your thread...some people wont believe you, and will PM you asking for tips lol.. so i am just showing it can be done... my site is in the same boat as yours its true what they say ... very nice! How much of your time did it take to get this going? 2 hours per day average? I'm thinking if you picked 4 niches and did the same thing on each on, you could manage 4 at a time or maybe 2 per month and each month make 2 more... you could be making a ton within 6 months! Great job!
lol no kidding. That is the holy grail. Finding a high traffic low competition niche. Personally, I think it the most important element. I like the lower traffic, lower competition keywords personally. Rather have 10 blogs making 10/day compared to one making 100/day.
It really is that simple, it's funny how many people get lost at this point, but why settle for one ? why settle for an old one ? follow the new ones .... many people/web masters look for the old niches .... there's new ones daily. But I can't stress enough .... why have one niche on a website ? you can have 100s of niches ....
How to find such a niche? All my interests are popular already. And if I sub-divide them, there is no traffic. SEOdactyl, how did you verify your niche had enough interest? Did you use a keyword tool like Wordtracker? Or just gut feel?
do you watch the news ? if you live in the USA you have a huge advantage, for instance politics is huge (obviously) - I am not going to share my secrets though .... as easy as they are. write about what's popular - simple, if it's in the news write about, if it's on TV and popular write about it, tv episodes are extremely popular ie. "watch one tree hill episode 15 season 3" etc .... long tail and really popular.
