A friend of mine has been banned and has only recieved 2 infractions. But after reading the infraction thread, it says 10 infractions can get a tempary ban. It was only for bumping a few threads. It's a bit harsh. So how can 2 infractions lead to banning when the limit is 10?

not really with so many junk and spam people around and VERY VERY clear rules the mods are still working over time. Just drop the subject most people asking this will get banned themselfs.

But the rule states 10 infractions = banning. I still want some detailed explanation on the infraction system. whether they ban me or not. I don't really care as I don't use this forum often. It's no big loss to me. But when someone might lose money over an unfair banning then it becomes a different situation.

It is the number of infraction points and not the number of infractions that are considered for ban.

An infraction can be of 1 or more points.

They are taking bumping much more serious. He could have gotten several infractions for the same bump. Here is an example of how serious the mods are taking breaking the bumping rules:

As soon as he comes back, just tell him not to bump.

It says that if anyone breaks them rules they get a 24HR ban. but this person got 1 week. I supose it could be worse. But the main infractions thread in suggestions and feedback section should be updated with all the new info right at the top. It seriously needs revising and thought about.

We have the ability to ban you outside of the infraction system as well. For example, if I see someone with a dozen bumps, I can choose to:

    A) Give you your ten bumping infractions, and knock you out of DP for 3 months until they expire,
    or
    B) Give you an infraction or two that will stick around that long, and then just ban you for a week or month or something with a note to knock the crap off when you get back.

It's also possible that your friend did something other than bumping - like PM spam, or breaking another rule that a moderator felt was worth a temporary ban. If it's a permanent ban, it's probably b/c of a duplicate account or something.

Either way, can't tell you specifics b/c I don't know who the friend is, and even if I did, it wouldn't be discussed with anyone but the person who was banned.
