    Bobby,

If your into aquarium fish, I have a site that has good information for beginners. I created this site as a personal project because I couldn't find a site online that had information that I needed when I started my first fish tank. I included everthing I wish I knew when I started plus more on this site. Any links are appreciated.

This explains why my auction site did not make the cut then? I guess I do not understand the logic here. I submitted a site to the ecommerce directory, which has a category for "Auctions" --> Antiques and Collectibles. So how many auctions do you know of that have an "Add to Cart" feature.

You might want to pull that category, unless you are looking for sellers of Auction software. Just an observation.

    I see your point...

I've instructed the editors to look at affiliate sites as a ratio of content to affiliate outbounds. If it is clearly an affiliate portal with no other reason for existing then it'll be rejected.

Also, with respect to the eCommerce directory -> first preference will be given to ecom sites that add to cart and checkout. If it doesn't allow this then it has to fit in the category. Can't be one of those "well, it almost fits".

Since posting this thread there has been a TREMENDOUS number of submissions! Between 3 editors we can barely keep up! Remember, if you have issues as to if a site was declined or can't find the right category just hit the live help button.

A big thanks is due the DP community!

Obviously the criteria holds for all submissions but is relaxed just a bit for premium submissions. For example, if they want to go 1 category higher for more green bar and the theme still fits we'll let it slide. If they have affiliate content and it's not objectionable ("buy 2 Russians brides for the price of 1" or "increase your member girth") then the premium submission gets more slack.

Not a problem man.. Just was curious about that. Thank you for allowing the submission.. Nice site, fast approval!

Yeah, it is absolutely amazing how fast things grow when mentioned on DP. My directory is almost at the 2000 listings mark, all from DP members no doubt!

    Keep up the good work!

Tell me about it...the DP community has strained the team these past 2 days :) That's a good thing though since we have kept up and still given everyone a review in less than a few hours.

However, it does bring internal discussions among the team like "what exactly constitutes affiliate content?" and a few other "what if...?" type questions. We never had to deal with them since the number of submissions daily was less than 50 or so. I urge everyone to bear with us while we evolve to meet the challenge.

Submitted my web directory to your site back at the beginning of March. As it doesn't appear to have been listed, and after reading the restrictions on the directories, I assume you have only seen the redirect links from the directory (this seems to catch everybody out) and not the clean ones, eg as on the following page http://www.directorygold.com/137.shtml. Should I resubmit, or do you still have the details?

Thanks. BTW, do you accept subdomains & other links to the same site. I have two main subdomains, and one deep link that cover substantially different topics to the main site.

Congratulations. The best new free directories that I have come accross in a while. They both been added to page 1 of my best free web directories list.

The directories are very well designed and should stand the test of time.

I have also added a note in my Top web directories to submit your site to blog.

Hope you keep up the good work.

Thank you for your kind gestures!

As a side note, I coded the directory myself and was thinking of releasing it as GPL (open source). When looking for directory scripts at the beginning I was not satisfied with the ones available. So, like the coder I am decided to roll my own directory.

I coded a directory project based on the currect code but a person helping with development bought the rights. It was a great deal so I couldn't turn it down...but I was thinking of continueing a fork of that code base and release one with more features.

The reason that submissions are spidered and indexed quickly is 2 particular areas: the new listings page and also the recent searches page.

The new listings page ensures that the spiders have a buffet of links to crawl with fresh content and has become one of the most entered URLs for spiders (Google and MSN in particular) while the recent searches helps to automatically create themed content with directory listings (categories and listings on one page). I implemented them with the intent of getting deeper crawls on a regular basis and get the new submissions indexed quickly. To this effect it has been tremendously successful!

So, I was planning on adding a few other features such as keyword links in the description ala SEOMA Web Directory style. That is a GREAT idea and a link in the content is more valuable than the traditional directory listings. Also, I am creating an easy ODP import feature for category structure. This should help new directories establish their basic structure quickly and easily.

Would you be interested in testing a beta script?

Excellent directories, well done. Added a site to both and reciprocated through my list of free non-recip directories

Maybe I overlooked them, but are there suitable categories for a webmaster forum and ancient history sites ?

How often do you update the PR on that listing. I show a PR0 but I'm a 3  ;)
