awh crapola! http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/12/29/google_future_2007/ Woops sorry about that. Pierce
Interesting points in the article. As far as AdWords goes, at least it has some competition. Google's dominance in PPC is due primarily due to search volume. It has its search volume because it made Internet search effective. However all you have to do is read these forums to see that all is not well with Google search results. Since Yahoo and MS have basically caught up in terms of search quality (good enough for most people anyway) Google search volume is no sure thing over the next few years. Considering the bizarre state of Google search results the last, um, year or so... I would say Google's biggest problem is Google.
Interesting article but I don’t really agree with the points being presented. Google might be the biggest advertiser on the internet today but as the market becomes more demanding new and more diverse services will appear. Everyone loves to write articles predicting the death of Google and their downfall but in reality I think this will only happen when they stop innovating or a better service pops up.
That is one thing google certainly does, it never stops moving or changing! But its interesting as more journal houses start writing more and more. Pierce
As more and more is written about the (non existant) demise of google, people will believe google doesnt exist and start using other services. Let me give you an example, the media here, for years has blackend IT. Before any explosion, there was about 700 IT graudates coming out of university for the whole country. Since they started writing about how jobs are non existant in IT, there are less than 100 people graduating in IT this year. Next year is going to be even worse. And all the time, theres growing demand in IT, currently 9,600 jobs un-serviced in the IT industry here alone. So, if the media continues to keep writing about this, eventually enough people will belive google is "dead". Its interesting to see the effect (it wont be an instant effect by any means) that this kind of written material will have. Pierce
I pitty Google. Google produce great products and have help to organize the Internet. In term of popularity, Windows control operating system, google controls Internet. You cant be in power if you dont have the knowledge (information) and as for google, they keep those information to help better serve its users. Sure, accident may happen and information could get leaked just like AOL did. But i believe Google is aware of this and they should do their very best to avoid this incidend. In any democratic environment, there must be opposers just to keep everything in place. This article is good for one reason, to highlight to Google and its end users, that 'Hey, we have some concerns.' Knowing Google will do its best, i sincerely hope that Google will continue to be innovative and productive. The whole world benefits from it.
