2 Domains - Same Content

    Hey guys,

    I am wondering what the best solution is from the SEO perspective if you have 2 domains and would like to show the same content.

    Let's say you have LASTNAME.com and FIRSTNAMELASTNAME.com, and would like to make LASTNAME.com your main site.

    Just change the nameserver to show the first site or a redirection or something different?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Redirection would be your best option. Make it a 301 redirect so that you do not get "duplicate content penalty".

    if you want to make your "LASTNAME.com" your main site then you can redirect the "FIRSTNAMELASTNAME.com" to "LASTNAME.com". so your problem will be solved.

    301 redirection is the best solution that i could think so far.. since its going to be problem if both sites have a same content..

I have changed only home page other sites and other pages redirect to the main sites... so u can do same thing..i think this will be helpful for you...

    I guess both the two sites may get punished by Google. If you want to avoid it, try to make it a 301 redirect please.

    I think redirecting is the best option for duplicate content.

    If the main site has no ranking just switch the DNS don't worry about getting indexed. But if your site has first page ranking on SE for some traffic keywords then you are bound for 301 redirect.

    To be on a safer side implement 301. This would also help you to take the benefit of the back link of your secondary website.

    disallow in the robots file to prevent the second site from being index.

    I would make a 301 redirect from the second domain to the main domain. Having the same content is a big issue and would decrease the ranking of both domains. If you don't want to redirect use the second domain as a splash page for the main domain and place links to the main domain. This will increase the PR and the ranking of your main domain.

    You can either make 301 redirecting for your 2 websites going to one of your other websites;
    OR
    you can create content for each website. =)
