Hi, I'm thinking about hiring a part-timer to spend two days a week on links. It's a decent site with a PageRank 4 (previously 5). Although I'm not sure how I think he should spend the time – Press Releases, Blog Writing, Article Submissions, Directory Submissions, Cold calling etc. How would you spend two days a week acquiring links? Thanks
1. Looking for and propositioning link exchanges 2. Doing guest posting on blogs in the same niche 3. blog and forum commenting 4. Directory submissions (if you haven't already done this) 5. Article directories 6. setting up pages on Squidoo, Hubpages, etc.. in that order
In order, probably: - directory submissions (with time spent on determining good quality directories). - press releases and article submissions - blog writing (though that seems pretty broad) - write out a list of 50 search terms. Examine the backlinks of the top 50 sites for each of those 50 terms to find places you can get easy links from. - investigate blogs in your niche. Then follow their blogrolls 2 or three deep to find a network of related blogs. See if any will give you links. - on those same blogs, check their backlinks for some easy places to get links. - do searches on bookmark sites for your search terms to find lists of sites that people find interesting. Approach them. And again, check the backlinks of those sites. That's some low hanging fruit that should allow you to start getting relevant links.
Link Building really helps in getting good traffic. The only point is that it should be done with proper pages of the site which are optimized for a particular keywords. It affects the ranking to a great extent.
Here are a few ideas in no particular order: - submitting articles, press leases, classifieds, directories - writing original content and using a proper internal linking - buying links / reviews / banners
I would say blog commenting and forum posting with free classifieds following. you can learn allot by blog commenting and forum posting. You get taught what is popular and happening around the net and marketing world.
