2$/day to 40$ today, i don't understand.

Hi!

I started a website back in september, and i usually get 2-3$ from adsense everyday. (Best day was 4$)

So, today i go to work at 4pm (i had made 1$ for today earnings).
I come back, tonight to see that i had about 15 times more visitors than on a normal day and made 40$ (today only, in 6 hours!).
I don't know where these people came from, i don't rank higher for my keywords on google, i am not front page on digg (lol), my website stats have not updated yet and i don't know if i will even be able to find out where these people come from when i see the stats.

1. So first, should i write to adsense for this "unexpected" earning jump.
2. And is there a way to see where all these visitors came from?
I'm quite sure it won't last like this, but i want to make sure nothing wrong is happening.
(i never bought visitors programs or any stuff like this).

You may have received some very high paying clicks. Do you have channels set-up to see what ads are generating revenue?

No i got about the same money from every click.
But like 15 times more visitors and 15 times more click. But i don't know where these people come from lol

 

you will need to look at your stats or logs to see where that traffic was coming from.. if the traffic is coming from somewhere natural like a search engine or a link from another high-traffic page, then sit back and enjoy it .. if it looks like the traffic is coming from someplace suspicious, then you should remove the ads and let Google know.

Which stats program do you use?

 

Hi. I am using my host website stats (godaddy), but i bet they won't update until tomorrow.

 

It might help to use another stat tracker too, statcounter.com is good for checking what's happening daily before google analytics (or whatever else) updates

 

Enjoy your earnings and do no worry about anything. Unless you are getting 100 clicks on 10 page views, there is nothing to worry about Cheers.

 

mind you but the source of your traffic matters. if u r getting traffic from a porn site it doesnt matter how many clicks you get.

 

First, I WOULD e-mail. If you're getting a 20X increase for no apparent reason... WORRY. Wait till your stats update and see what happens. At least if any flags have been raised, AdSense will have an e-mail from you. If it's nothing, it will simply be disregarded.

Make sure to check out the IPs and see what kind of referral traffic you've been getting. If everything is good and you've just been featured on a popular site, enjoy the earnings and try to grab some of the traffic to see if they will become loyal readers.

It is a worrying situation. It would be better you email adsense and ask them to investigate. Next you can implement Google Analytics into your site, so that in the future, you may know what is happening. You'll have fuller knowledge about your site visitors, and source of traffic.

It would be terrible if your adsense account gets suspended. So, it would be better to take the precaution and email them.

I wrote to google, just to make sure.

I will install google analytic tomorrow. My host i kind of slow on updating the statistics.
I really can't wait to see what happened!

 

Yep you made the best thing, it´s not usual to have 15 times more traffic in just on a "normal" day (i mean no specific content to be researched on that day)

Like gauharjk said i´d also recommend you to implement goolgle analytics.

You didn't say anything about the CTR...If your CTR is high it might be a problem (over 100%)

 

first of all, use google Analytics

secondly, the increase in ur income was from $4 to $40, so I think u donmt have to worry much as there is not a thousand dollar increase.

I myself have different earnings like $2 a day to $20, never had any problem

 

See where your traffic came

Mabe you gor goot rankings over night or digg or stumble
