$2 Clicks Beat 10 Cent Ones

    Hey all,

I am really new to adsense, but I learned a pretty good lesson in the last few days.

My first real site to try to make is in my sig link. I know it doesn't look good, but I made it because of my love for the subject. I have thrown all of my passion into it, and have started to get a little bit of traffic. I have been getting about 10 cents per click on it (sometimes a good bit more). I'm up to about $3 a day with adsense on it. Not very much, but I guess that's OK considering it's only a month old and I really don't know what the hell I am doing with it.

So I decided to take a look at some lists that are floating around about high paying keywords. I looked over the list to see if there was anything that I was passionate about. I found something, so I decided to try to make a free blog about it and include some adsense.

I got my first click today on that blog for $2. To get $2 with adsense on the other site, I needed to get 20 clicks on average.

I understand that quantity of clicks can overcome low epc, but I now know that I want to focus on issues that can actually make some decent money per click.

I still have a lot of issues with the new blog. I don't understand how to seo a blogger blog (duplicate content, meta tags, etc), and I really need some help if any blogger seo pros can help me. I would really appreciate it. I have asked for help in "seo" and "blogging", but I haven't gotten any real responses.

Take care all, and no flaming me please. I'm very sensitive. lol

    :)

$2 for a click is good since you did some home work before putting it on your blog .

It was a very nice "surprise". Targeting higher paying keywords that I am passionate about seems to make pretty good sense.

The most I had gotten from a click before this was about 60 cents I believe.

The problem is identifying the high paying right keyword and optimizing the niche based on it. Once that is done, then automatically money will come.

The optimizing factor is what i am having a hard time with. I don't understand these Blogger blogs. Google is showing errors in the sitemap because of too many tags and feedburner urls. There is so much duplicate content because of archives, tags, etc. that I know that Google is going to penalize me.

With wordpress it's easy. You just get the seo plug-in and it takes care of this. With Blogger, I really don't know what to do.

I wouldn't party that much for one click only, first adsense clicks on new pages tend to be good...wait a couple weeks and see if they still are that great. After that start heavily promoting your blog.

    Good point.

On the site in my sig, the first clicks were in the 20 cents range I believe.

I guess the point I learned was just to combine what I cared about along with kw's that are higher paying.

I LOVE Cajun food and culture, but advertisers just don't have to pay a lot to place these kinds of ads. Recipe ads are VERY cheap.

I also have some passion for other fields in which advertisers must be way more competitive to get their ads shown. It just makes a lot more sense to focus my limited abilities and time on those fields that pay better.

By the way, I hope you didn't just throw a hex on me with this warning!! lol

See if you can get some traffic going with bookmarking and see if the $2 clicks hold up.

Gasoline? Hmm... Never even thought about gasoline. What do you talk about with gasoline?

Edit: Just saw your site. That's pretty cool. You're getting PSA's by the way.

whats your blogs URL? If your looking for some more traffic submit it to some free directories, I know there was a thread not to long ago that had a pretty big list of free directories, let me see if I can find it real quick...

Thanks for the link. I'm not sure if I will run with this blog. I just wanted to test it. I don't think I will be using the blogger platform, unless I can figure this out on seo and such. Wordpress appears to be supreme. Sigh...

My brother had a great idea, and he went so far to a point where it is part of his carrer. When he was 24 or so and was in college, he decided to enter the law field, and he told me. I first didnt really care much that he wanted to enter law, then an idea sparked in my head, what if he wrote a blog about his cases and such. Now after graduating and him getting a job at firm, he took my advice and we together opened a small blog, where the hits are amazing, and it earns him an extra $100 or so, and he only has 1 ad unit on 1 page thats in the back!
He plans to make the blog full adsense later on.

Well my point is, just going after a keyword isnt just it, try to make your blog legit, put down cases that recently happend, talk about stuff, BE THE LAWYER, NOT THE WEBMASTER

I hope you get my point.. dont just go for the keyword best tip a blogger can give u

I appreciate the advice. Yes, focusing on content, regardless of what the topic is, makes a lot of sense. It also makes sense that no one will read your content if you do not understand some webmaster concepts. For instance, I do not know how to do some basic seo on this blogger platform. Therefore, no one will really be able to read my content. No matter how good it is.

The fact that anyone can make a living with adsense is very compelling to me. I am obsessed with understanding it. Am I alone?

Then again, your point makes sense to me because you have to love what you are doing (at least I do). That was my point. I found a passion that happened to coincide with a higher paying niche.

    Thank you.

    :)
