I've noticed that PS3Land.com include ContentLink (a contextual ad service) along with AdSense on the same page (example: http://www.ps3land.com/article-672.php ) and PS3Portal.com does the same thing (example: http://www.ps3portal.com/ps3/article/489.html ) I was under the impression that using another contextual based advertising service with AdSense was against the TOS? I mean, hell I'd love to throw on ContentLink along with my AdSense but it's against the rules. Why should these sites get to do it if the rest of us can't? Or, am I somehow wrong about ContentLink (I don't see how I would be though?) Any comments on this?
yes - the adsense team has said before that this is TOS. However, I have seen it on a variety of sites. Just report them, and see if they get banned.
I don't know if I want them banned (even though they're my direct competitors) as so much as I'd like them to simply comply with the rules that everyone else has too. I think I'll send them an email, and if that doesn't resolve it, then I'll take it to Google.
Ahh, didnt see them, of course they are contextual. And REALLY ANNOYING!!! LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think they are among the worst and least sympathetic ads. JUST SO ¤#%¤# ANNOYING AND DESTROYING THE READING PLEASURE!!!!!! Oh yes, one more thing , I hate them
It's been established that if you are big enough, and if you make enough money for Adsense, or if no one makes a big stink over it, Adsense will let you violate as much of their precious TOS as you want. This includes running Kontera's ContentLinks and Vibrant Media's IntelliTXT on your site along with Adsense. Yes, they say no to both, but they won't enforce it.
What a double standard then. All that does is keep the little guys down, and keep the top dogs in their place. If I could utilize multiple contextual ad services at once I am sure my profit margin would be higher, allowing me to invest in more advertising, content, and promotions that allow me to grow into a profitable web company faster. However, when even Google ignores their own TOS, it makes it hard for people like me to respect the program. Sure it's Google's game, and they can do whatever they want, but it doesn't mean I have to stick with them and help them earn any more money.
Then what about this: from https://www.google.com/adsense/policies?sourceid=asos&subid=ww-ww-et-resource_box&medium=link It specifically says that you cannot utilize AdSense with any other contextual based ad service. ContentLink is 100% contextual, and so are the AdSense being displayed. So how again is this not a TOS violation? Also, what about this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=100059&highlight=kontera+contentlink
Google have double standards, just live with it. And if you ever are in doubt that what you do is against the TOS, ask them, with their double standards thats the only way to be safe.
