2 Anchor Text Backlink Questions. Please Help.

I was wondering when obtaining backlinks in anchor text from squidoo, Do I have to index the squidoo lens first? I’m thinking that I do, so I don’t want to continue to waste my time getting them without indexing the Lenses first.

I guess what I mean is do anchor text links that are obtained from sites (lens, blogs, etc) that are not indexed count?

    2nd question
I’m trying to index them but I am having trouble… Usually The sites I have get indexed within a week or less. I submitted to dig mixx etc… the directories (digg mixx etc) are indexed but not the lens’s… I read in another thread to ping the directories (digg mixx etc.) but are there any other suggestions?

    Thanks for your replies.

Go ahead and completely make your squidoo lens. Once it is all done and your links are posted, then work at trying to get that lens indexed. Sometimes it is just a matter of time before Google indexes a page. Google should be able to find the lens through internal links on squidoo.com. Adding the lens to social bookmarking websites should help get the lens indexed and help the links count for more. If a few bookmarks don't do the trick, keep adding more and wait a bit.

T.J., you don't have to worry much about Squidoo lenses indexing. Instead, try to fill up your lens with more useful content and keep your lens 'fresh' (eg: add more new module).

The reason I'm suggesting this is because in overall Squidoo get crawled and indexed every other seconds by Google. The keypoint to get indexed is to make sure your lens is 'recommended' by Squidoo. By keeping your lens fat (with loads of content - the more module the better) and fresh, Squidoo tends to link to your lens internally on other lenses - which in turn, helps your lens index much faster.

For Digg, unless your story is popular, it normally gets buried deep in the upcoming story section. How do you expect Google bots to follow a link at page#337th at Digg's upcoming story with just one single digg? Some other social media sites are nofollow thus it won't offer any SEO value at all; some, though are followed, but it's already flooded with outbound links, which likely won't offer any SEO value as well (unless your story is popular and stick on homepage). All in all, social media marketing is not a good method if your concern is just getting your lenses indexed. Instead, try article marketing. ;)

Thanks vansterdam... I guess I just need to be more patient.

Thanks crispycheesy. I am doing both. It's just time consuming to write articles. Does anyone know and other good ways to get anchor text links for free (Besides Spam comemting)?

You could try pinging them. Or alternatively link to all your lens from one of your more highly ranked sites
