NODP first came in March In march, i had 2,500 uniques In april, i had 2,800 uniques I have over 6000 visitors in april, over 5000 in march. Does anyone have suggestions to improve the amount of submissions? I opened it as paidpaid.info in September, then changed to a better name at a later date. My target by the end of the year is 200 submissions a day. How can i do this? Rob
One thing you can do is to provide unique feature that other directories don't provide. Another way is to SEO your site for website submission keywords
I attempted to use Alexa screenshots for sites as the unique feature, but on new sites it doesn't work correctly, because it needs the site to be reconized on domaintools. I have tryed really hard to think of a unique feature, but to be honest, it is extremely hard to do. Rob
you might try making a professional-looking banner or logo. the one you have now isnt very appealing. on the same note, try improving the design.
Maybe create a small button that webmasters can put on their pages that says something like 'Listed in NODP' and offer webmasters that put the button on their site, a highlighted listing in NODP. This could help to slowly build your traffic and with more traffic coming into NODP the more webmasters will want to include include their site in the directory.
your homepage looks cluttered people have better things to do than look for a submit button remove the very large google ad and replace with a 468x60 and relocate it to above the categories and under the menu remove the paragraph under the logo create some image buttons or a better menu the text is way too small on my pc EDIT: i tried submitting a site and got this error the site is working fine The URL could not be validated. Either the page does not exist or the server cound not be contacted Could be your problem?
That is to prevent spam submissions to URL's which dont exist. I was able to submit any 'real' site easy. I have done a massive declutter. Fixed the alexa screenshots (never noticed them broken before?) I have started to accept donations to help pay for the hosting, which is increasing. (Removed the google ads, less than $1 for that big pile of crap!) I will fix the font, what resolution and what size font do you use? Rob
Good idea is to market some e-course as an additional benefit, for instance, if you know a lot about link building, suggest people to subscribe to this e-course (they will have something to forward to their friends). I've saw some article submission sites do something like this, but unfortunately article submission newsletter I was getting was very poor.
I was thinking of creating a mailing list of the emails which already submitted sites. Is there a legal issue with this? There is around about 6000 emails. ROb
I'm not sure about what kind of e-mails you are talking, but if they was not written by you, then it is a common rule to ask before reprint (or reuse). I think that: 1. You can take your own articles/ideas as people don't have time to read all pages on your web-sites. 2. You will not need a lot for a first time, one will have a purchase decision in about 5-7 emails. 3. There are article web-sites where you can find articles on different topics, most of them suggest articles for reprint, e.g. allowing you to use it unchanged.
try to write some hottest articles that people like to know, and submit them to other blogs, or forums.
