The SEOMoz.org page strength tool is, uhh, shall we say slightly inaccurate? For many weeks they've been showing my website with 2,766,679 .edu or .gov links. Can you imagine the traffic and PR I must have! Not! I have precisely two .edu links and a modest PR (5). My point? Most of the online tools are indeed "for entertainment purposes only". I get a good chuckle when I see directories advertising their "page strength".
yea but it works in terms of marketing...there are many people who see it and trust the site more then a lower rank one. Just like having ssl secure. Many people believe their information is protected but it is still accessable by the experienced.
But that's the point — you can't trust that page strength tool. How could you trust a tool that shows me with nearly 3 million .edu/.gov links and has been consistently showing that number for over a month now?
