Team iDemise is a professional gaming guide company that creates strategy guides particularly for MMORPG genre video games such as World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, etc.

The designers entering in this contest should have some knowledge of what sales pages should look like and know what's important to convince our customers to BUY. (It's not an art contest)

While we are in the gaming niche, we are a serious business, and need a professional looking website. Our customers want to feel confident they are buying from mature, adult, professional writers/gamers and not some teenage kid. And the site design needs to give them this confidence.

We want something that lets people know right away that this is a gaming site but isn't overly "cartoony" or "cheap" looking.

We are fans of subtle details that give the site just enough style.

We also think simple is sometimes better. We want the visitor to know that this is a MMORPG website, but don't want crazy MMORPG graphics all over. Rather, add the MMORPG touch in the bullets and icons on the page. A good design is one that brings out the content, not hides it.

    Specs:

100% width header with a somewhat thin height.

    Horizontal Menu below header.

Aligned Left ("Home, Guides, Blog" links)

Aligned Right ("Select Game" Dropdown box)

2 column body optimized for 1024 resolution

Left column = Sales Pitch Content (writing)

Right column = Testimonials, Newsletter sign up area

    Footer Area (Links)

Home, Guides, Blog, Contact Us, Affiliates, Game Guides categorized by Game Titles

Things that need to be designed:

Header, Logo, Headline (h1), Paragraph Headlines (h2), content, testimonial, bullet point list, product display area, Buy Now or Purchase Now button, Newsletter Subscription box, 100% satisfaction guarantee area with emblem.

Just to give you an idea of what my sales content will look like visit www.teamidemise.com . I'm showing you this just so you know what a typical sales page looks like and how the headline and paragraphs are formatted. I'm NOT showing you this because I like the design or anything about it. Please don't misunderstand this.

    Don't Want

    *Overly cartoony designs
    *Too much graphic work
*Too many colors (give it a 2 min – 4 max color color-scheme
    *Art

    Contest Details (Read Carefully):

    * Contest starts today, November 3rd and ends on November 10th
    * We reserve the right to close the contest early, or to close/prolong the contest if we don't get any entries we like
    * We will offer BONUSES to exceptional entries
    * Feedback will be given frequently to each new entry

If you have any questions, please post them in a reply or in a PM.

Edit: We want the PSD files AND the code for the website, but for starters please only submit the image to see if we like it.

    Thanks!

I know the prize is fantastic (heck, if I were a designer I'd do this myself), so why are so few people announcing their submissions? I advised my partner to make it $550 but he didn't believe that anyone would give him any good work for such a small price. And I agree, prices on DP are very low and many providers accept to be underpaid. Since my friend posted the same contest on 99designs with a $2k prize, it would have been unprofessional to leave the same contest here for $550 so I spoke to my friend and we agreed to raise the prize here. I'm explaining this because some of you might thing that projects like this usually have a $400 prize, so if for this one the prize is $2k, there must be a catch somewhere. But I assure you that there is no catch and if you are interested, this opportunity is fantastic.

Anyhow if anyone is interested in participating, please let me know ASAP otherwise I will close this contest and continue only the one on 99designs.

Well the design itself (the .psd) is really all that matters to us because we have a company that usually does the programming. Since my friend decided to pay so much for this project I suggested that we also ask for the CSS coding for it, but I haven't really thought that some of the designers here won't be able to also do the coding (which I should have thought of). I'll have to talk to him and see if we're going to remove the requirement for the programming part, or if the prize will be lower for just the .psd files.

Very good question though! I'll get back to you on that one.

We discussed about this and you're off the hook with the coding. We're removing the coding requirement so the prize is $2,000 for just the .psd files. I know there's probably a lot of pressure there so if you have some ideas you want to run with us first or any questions just go ahead!

And I can't edit the initial post anymore so please note that you only need to make the .PSD files. Thanks!

Sure, thanks for letting me know that you are working on an entry. I know that everyone works at a different pace, so I just want to make sure that everyone has a chance to submit their work before we make a decision.

5 days left until the contest ends. If people need more time, we might extend it but I think it should be enough to decide a winner.

There has been some confusion about the dimensions of the page.. as per my initial post, please note that the header should be 100% width and optimized for 1024. Other than the requirements of the original post, you can use whatever feels right for you. Feedback will be given! Please keep the body of the page centered, as for any standard sales page.

@Equiflux: Sure feel free to submit your entry by PM, but I would prefer if you did it publicly so that other participants can learn from our feedback (and see who they are competing against).
