Last week I decided to move my site over to a new format: A blog. Wordpress was exactly what I needed. An easy solution to uploading/creating content on a regular basis. No need to mess around with files and FTP uploads. To begin with it has been quite a bit of work. I had to setup numerous 301 redirects and re-insert/format a lot of the old content into the new blog. However, it has all paid off! Since the launch of the new main site (blog) the traffic has soured to an extremely impressive 6,000 + unique visitors in only 7 days. Here is a breakdown of where it is coming from: 79.64% - Search Engines (people finding us through google etc) 13.18% - Referring Websites (people linking to the website) 6.67% - Direct Traffic (people typing in the address/using bookmarks) 0.50% - Unknown (most likely bots/search spiders) This is purely for the main site, meaning this is NOT including the forum stats. Noddegamra.co.uk is almost averaging at 1000 unique vistors a day! So what are the top content items at the moment? NAT Settings and Halo 3 online tips! NAT settings has brought 3,700 pageviews since upload, and Halo 3 online multiplayer tips has brought almost 2,500! I really hope this success continues
Good luck! Its tough building up traffic...I guess I am still trying to get past my PR0 hurdle haha....
Wow, thats a really good achievement. Dont forget to milk it while you can, the Halo3 excitement might die out soon
Yeah the Halo excitement really helped with traffic. I dont think interest in it wil die for a while. Atleast i hope not
I noticed that you have like a couple of good posts that made it to the front page of Digg. I mean, that must have played a big role in attracting more readers.
I had a search within digg and nothing seems to have made it to the first page. Can anyone provide info as to if this has actually happened or not?
