Just got my first refund ever! I don't promote any money making products so that makes it even more lame that I got a refund. :(

    Oh well!

A non money making method usually has a 5% refund rate.

Even non-money making products too make many refunds!
Refunds are not limited to any particular type of products.

Refunds are a very active part of clickbank. Don't worry it will become a habit.

I got refunds for Music Download products. I started promoting money making products couple of months ago and they are selling well. Haven't got any refunds for money making products till now.

Sell quality products only and your refund rate will be very low (5%-10%)

Yes anything under 5% is typical for a good product.

I had a refund request too from a user who received my product and decided "the business wasn't for him". I honored his request but I wanted to say "you can't go to the store, crack open a box of cookies and then expect a full refund because you didn't like them."

Why not? i do that all the time. I buy food from a renomed company (like craft), then send them a call saying the cheese was rotten or w/e and without any question i get full refund and a huge box full of free craft products to "forgive them"

One of the unfortunate byproducts of selling information. There are a lot of people who will ask for a refund as a scam to get the product.

5-10% refunds are acceptable but not above than that. It becomes pain to the affiliates.

Something that worked for me is not advertising money-back guarantee in the ad copy or landing page. This probably all depends on the product / niche / competition

First off, congrats on not having a refund up o this point.

Maybe I'm too nice.... I have very few refund requests... but in the rare event I do, I give the money back without question. The way I see it, as long as my product is profitable, I don't care that much... and I think most people are honest enough to pay for a product they feel is helpful....

Besides, if I were a customer and I bought something with a full guarantee-- I wouldn't want a hassle. I simply reply with, "Thanks for giving the product a try...."

The amount of returns largely depends on the niche and the quality of the product.... And there will always be SOME returns... But, generally speaking, most people are willing to pay a fair price for a product. And that's what makes CLickbank work.

"Something that worked for me is not advertising money-back guarantee in the ad copy or landing page. "
    --END QUOTE--

I'm sure it depends on the niche... but I do the opposite. I brag about the money-bakc guarantee. Since most of my customers have never downloaded an ebook before, most are very skeptical.... So I make a big deal about the guarantee in the pitch page... I think it puts their fears to rest.
