1and1, is it a good host?

We finally made up our mind today after being down for over an hour on dreamhost that we've gotta move our site.

We've been putting up with these outages on a daily basis and I think its time we find another hosting company.

    I was looking at 1and1.

Any comments on their developer shared hosting packages?

    Much appreciated.

I've been using their sharing hosting services for almost one year now for one of my site, it's been allright.
No noticeable downtime as far as I know.
But I don't have big needs, just a basic wordpress install.
The only negative point is their support, getting an answer (via e-mail) can be long.

    Man, I don't know.

    I did a little research.

I've read alot of horror stories bout 1and1 in the past 8 hours.

And not that people seem too happy with their tech support.

This can be a problem when ur currently out of the U.S, like I am and just use email to conact tech support if something goes wrong.

Plus 1and1 has unresolved complaints with the BBB.

I'm just gonna stick with dreamhost for now.

Never try their service...they are totally scammers. Never try register domain with them...then you cannot move your domain anywhere else..

    Thanks.

Alot of people have said the same thing about 1and. Especially about the domain thing.

I heard their tech support isn't that great either.

Actually, I decided that I'm staying with dreamhost.

No matter what I said, dreamhost has like the best tech supports. I mean I usually get an answer within an hour if its an emergency and within a few hours if its casual.

They did something after the last outage and its working fine now.
