there are many bad feedback, bad customer service, never reply.

I had a client who was with them and they were so bad, the client's project was stalled for months. Their hosting was continually down and there was no support whatsoever. Everytime, the client wanted something simple that was a basic with other programs, they had to pay extra. And the final insult was when they tried to change the DNS on their domain.

The reviews you see are accurate.

I've got 4 domains with them, no problems yet. Love the free private reg and standard low prices.

I, however, host with other smaller companies because they're cheaper (and allow proxies, etc.)

Their hosting was never down once for me, and the only reason I left was due to having several other hosts. They are too busy to provide customer service for the hosting, but the question was about domains.

1and1 is world class for domain reg if you understand what they offer:

    * Cheaper than Godaddy
    * Very easy to transfer away, but...
    * No free pushes to other 1and1 accounts

So for domains you are planning on keeping they are first class, and I have never had any problem.

    ps.
    1) They never, ever keep billing after domains are transfered away (the way iPower does)

    2) People who tell you they keep billing after canceling a hosting account simply failed to follow easy instructions.

Much of the bad things said about 1and1 I found to be very inaccurate.
They are one of the biggest internet companies in the whole world, despite the bad reviews.

    What is this 5-in-1 deal?
'Private Registration' is free - no deal - not required to buy any other stuff at IDNRS.com

    Regards,
    Toniya

They don't seem to get too many positive reviews. "You get what you pay for."

1and1 has a pretty bad rep in the domaining industry. May be better as a web host than a registrar...

I regged some names there early on (having not researched them) because of some great deal they were offering. I regret it. They have no bulk management for things like changing DNS and no way to download your domain info into a doc or spreadsheet app.

I have heard lots of bad things about 1and1 and while some think they're "okay" I've heard no one singing their praises.

1and1 is great if you want cheap hosting and cheap domains and aren't a power user. If you want to manage bulk domains, look elsehwere. There admin panel is unlike anything Ive seen and is a pain to navigate. Whenever I build a site at 1and1, I install joomla and forget their admin panel unless I have a pressing need to use the mySQL admin panel. I can't imagine what it would be like to use their admin panel for managing more than a handful of domains. They are easy to transfer away from and to though, so if you are only selling/buying a few domains, they might be worth while.

namecheap.com is the best, so easy to use, free account setup and you can mange all of your domains in one place.

If you design/make websites and then wish to sell them on DP then there is not easier way, with namecheap you can transfer to the new owner for free.

never used the hosting but for domain reg they rock

    Cap :)
