yes..i did a lilk bit of searchign and found out that there are issues with their domains.. many people were frsutated..i read on some forums..better opt with godaddy..the best,...
I use them as my host and registrar. I have closed one account without any trouble, but I haven't tried transferring a domain. They use the registrar enom.com for domains. I wouldn't suggest their service if you are rapidly buying/selling domains. If you need cheap hosting, they aren't bad.
They're terrible, I used them for a few sites and am waiting to get all of my domains transferred after the 60 days are up.
ok I am hosted with them and have been for over 3+ years, I have only had database problems, and now host with another company just for the database but still use 1&1 as my main host. After being on the phone kicking off over there databases a number of times, I now have there free phone number and had other things out of them (the free number in uk is only for top payers I am one lower lol) If you are not intrested in big databases then there good, the up time is no porblem and I have never had any down time that i know of, but if your using a database then I would defo recomend also getting a cheap host just for the database, I would have moved fully over but I have well to many files and get to much traffic etc etc.
yer true, I have herd that getting domains transferd out of them is hard, but they regerster them direct so get in contact with them and tell them there taking the piss and they are holding your domains!
My friend had a domain there with hosting and once he canceled his hosting they stole his domain. That is why he joined me in starting my webhost.
Where do they get the name "NameCheap" when they are almost $3 more then 1and1.com? Can someone help me with the logic in that? Stick with 1and1.com and save some money folks!
I had them for a host once, but they are slow. For domain names, they are better. The only problem I had was that when my domain expired, they took it over and converted the info to public. Also, they don't tell you how to cancel. You have to really look for it.
I have been using 1and1 for about a year now.....I like their hosting....and when i bought the package, it was really cheap...6 months 15 dollars...and 2 free domains for my package.....can't tell the same about their customer service....
Like glue They are fine, just crap for transferring domains backward and forward. If you have a site you want to keep online forever then they are a good bet. I think their databases are restricted to 100Mb but can't be sure as I have only used a couple Mb each on the 40 databases I have with them. James.
I read a good review about them and throught I would see if I could save a little by using them. However, I am used to enom.com where I can register a name, set the dns and have a site live in 15 minutes. Waiting for hours for the registration to complete and more time before I can set the dns is not acceptable for me. From what I have seen, the real test of a registrar is how much hassle it is to get a name moved to a different registrar.
I can honestly say other than not being able to understand any of their CSR's or tech support idiots I havent had a single problem with 1and1. I was a godaddy victim and was referred to 1and1 so I signed up for their 1and1 business package on a special they were running that priced it at 6 bucks or so per month. Been with them since January and so far problem free.
I've tried hostmonster.com and they're pretty good, but my favorite is theupstream.com they have great prices/packages and AWESOME communication. (aim/msn)
