What do you thought of Google when it is just starting?

I liked it better back then. Providing relevant content was their #1 priority, not selling ad space.

I was underwhelmed by it. I was liking altavista.com and then dogpile.com. I liked altavista because it would index sites right away and had good relavence. I like dogpile because it would return result sets from 10 or more differenct search engines at once. I could quickly scroll through a lot of result sets, each with different criteria.

Google had an almost unnatural buzz about it but it of course grew to live up to the buzz.

Never heard of it until about 2 years ago when I heard someone mention it on TV as a way to search for stuff on the Internet. Probably how most of the world's population learned of it.

    LOL That's funny.

I always liked Google's interface, and the first thing I noticed was how fast and relevant the searches were.
