    I thought they either free or mostly free, the first 3 wanted outrages fees for the service. Then I stopped going through the list. Are there really free ones that do work?

    Not a great idea to submit pay for link in Director for one year.
    It is more better to submit in free web directory.

    No point in wasting tons of money on directory submissions that will give less result then paying less for better marketing strategies.

    Paid is not necessary better than free one. :)
    I think there are still more good quality directories that are free submission.

    I go for free ones as well but the list has some of those, so thanks.
    I do not see the point of spending on directory submission since
    I don't think they are of high value these days.

    I think some of the same directories that you submit websites to are even better for blogs...DMOZ, Y! Directory, BOTW, JoeAnt, etc. The linking benefits from being listed in these directories is priceless.

    I tried to submit to some of the free ones I found online, I'd say 80% of them are not functional. They probably were created a long time ago and no one is taking care of the bugs that are in them.
