    Hi,

I recently asked my webhost what the price was for extra bandwidth and I got back that it cost $180 per 1000GB extra. Is this a normal price? It sounds a bit expensive to me. I currently have 3000GB per month, if i want to double that will cost $540 per month extra :/
What do you pay for extra bandwidth?

I pay 100$/1000GB of quality carrier-grade bandwidth. I have low bandwidth needs so it is a bit expensive I suppose, but if you need 20TB per month or more 95th percentile is the way to go, since the more you buy, the less it costs.

This isn't expensive, it is quite a standard pricing for USA bandwidth. It is considered cheap in other parts of the world. For Singapore, you will get about 300GB for such prices and for Australia I think it would be around 60GB.

95 percentile is whereby they charge according to the bandwidth which you are using 95% of the time, for eg for your MRTG chart, you can draw a line corresponding to the usage 95% of the time and the mbps used at that point will be use for billing.
