Most definitely not fake. All backlinks are natural. It's showing fake because when they were 404 erroing and down for a week some were removed from SERPS. Your PR checker assumes since it's not in the serps it's an invalid PR. Soon as that domain gets re-indexed in Google it'll have a valid PR, guaranteed. I'm not a shady member and I don't even know how to create a fake PR page.

What server were you running them on which couldn't handle the load?

I don't think it was the server's hardware, I think it was an Apache configuration. Server just kept going down for 5 minutes every 2 days or so and when I shut down the proxies the problem stopped. Server is a P4 3.0 Ghz with 1 gig memory. CPU and memory usage were never full, so like I said I don't think it was a hardware issue.

How much bandwidth were they using daily/monthly?

Couldn't tell ya, but my plan is 1500 GB and I never go over. I also have a variety of other websites on the same server as well.
