This is really driving me crazy, while the traffic is increasing, the click count is going down ! I don't know why,I haven't changed the content type nor the placement. Yesterday I had 170 uniques and only 2 clicks!
this is really driving me crazy :(

if they are returning visitors then maybe they know they are ads. I'd suggest multiple color palettes in this situation.

You might need a better strategy for ads positioning within their TOS, of course.

Most of them are not returning visitors.

Sure, but what does it have to do with the click count? I'm not talking about the money I have earned here

It's the same strategy I've been using for almost 3 months, the click count decreased only since the end of the last month!

Do you have any sort of tracking on your site? Like Google Analytics for instance?

Most likely the symptoms you describe are indicative of an untargeted traffic.

Where does the traffic comes from?

If you get more targeted traffic the click count will go up.

The ad placement also plays a big role, but I assume you are properly educated in that area.

    1. ads is not related to the content.
    2. the place of ads is not good?
    3. maybe the visitors know those are ads and they don't want to click the ads?

what's the topic of your site? Some topics like webmaster/ internet tech related topics are not big converters. Most of us know adsense when we see it and don't click on it. (like onion said above in #3)

The number of visitors is too small for quick conclusions. Don't worry. Just look at stats starting at around 1000 pageviews.

Try to tweak your ads, change the placement (sidebar ads on the left/right), try other ad formats. Sometimes it helps.

Did they click on ads to get to your site? If so, you should have a much higher clickthrough rate. If it's just people getting there through search results or natural links and your page gives them everything they need that might be an OK CTR.

For layout improvements, try crazyegg.com. It will show you where people are clicking. You can move or remove items that are drawing too much attention so ads get more attention.

if your site is professionally designed with good content in my opnion your visitor will concentrate and spend time reading your content. I get around 100unique a day and never more than 5 to 10 clicks daily.

Now I notice that site poorly designed usually get more clicks because the visitor don't have a better choice, they want to get out of your site ASAP and will find an easy way by clicking on your ads...

    just my 2 cents.

    Cheers

    A few more thoughts...

If the sites you are talking about are the ones in your signature, I can see two issues: layout and too much good content.

Check out Adsense Help for ad placement. I recommend the biggest rectangle ad in the upper left of the content, an ad links bar at the top, and an ad link block above or below a left navigation.

Also your content may be too useful so people are finding exactly what they need and they click no further. I wouldn't change the content, just improve the ad layout and wait for volumes of good free traffic to show up as a result of the good content.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I've done some more blending and I think I'll move the right column to the left and see what the results are.

One of the things I have found that helps is placing them horizontally between articles or posts, as if they are a part of the content or articles.
I think a lot of people are becoming desensitized to the ads on the right and left of web pages, much as they did/do to banner ads.

unique/click ratio sounds normal to me...up the traffic if you want more clicks.

i feel most of the loyal readers in the blog or website will not click the ads, especially those people know those are ads.
    1. they feel ads annoying?
    2. they don't want you to earn money?
    3. because there are a lot of MFA ads?

What i do to my website is trying to get a lot of traffics from search engines. The placement of the ads is also important.

i have one website that has not over 100 unique visitors and i still can get more clicks. :D My another website get more uniques visitors per day, but less clicks.

so, i only feel it is about the ads related tothe content and the people will click the ads if they know those are ads or they dont 'know those are ads. :D
