OP - thank God you replied and asked the question. I have no way of knowing why Google didn't update your PR.

Others, one good way to increase backlinks is to write articles and submit them to Article Directories. How long does it really take to write a 250 word article, huh!!! Hardly 10 minutes. And you get high quality permanent backlinks within those 10 minutes.
