I'm agree with you. Just make a small page on each domain instead of redirecting all of them to one main page.

Why wouldn't Google like it? My take is as long as it is within a niche subject ..it shouldn't ring any bell..

You can do 5 5-pages with unique content (dont have to be long...just two-three paragraphs) blogs on blogspot.com and the rest on pages.google.com should do the trick..

I am a fan of 5-10 pages mini-sites. Get a cluster of them and u got yourself a niche network.

    Allright then.

if I point them towards wordpress.com and blogspot.com pages - they will ofcourse have more exposure ( since google and wp.com does a lot of things on their own ).

But if i 301 those domains to those blogs and put a backlink to my site - would it hurt in anyway ?

Would there be any difference ?

Most of these questions could be answered by Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

No, you may not have exact duplicate content on multiple domains/pages. And no, you cannot link pages together using any automatic redirect method.

It don't effect my site when i added extra domain name. i didn't like it when the domain show up for the website it was pointing to . I think the domain name that is resting on the original one gets more hit somehow for nothing.
