The backlinko article is great as it brings up solid new ideas for quality backlinks, to help an offline SEO project better diversify. No over-reliance on guest posts, Web 2.0s, blog comments, and other things Google is penalizing because the over-representation of those properties in one's backlink profile is obviously a sign of unnatural link development.
