$150 website for a dog hotel - 48h - Payment via paypal

Company profile:
We are a hotel for dogs in Brazil with a lot of open space near nature, a playground with yard toys for dogs, swimming pool, etc. Also, a store selling products for pets and farm animals, and other related services such as vet care, therapies, etc. We are very serious about animal well-being and do not sell any live animals.

Company logo: The company logo should be in all designs, it's also useful for you to look at it to get a "feel" of the company identity.

Design requirements:
The website should have the same "feel" as the company logo: "playful", "happy", "alive". You can use green (similar to the grass in the logo) as a predominant color, maybe some orange too (similar to the hammock in the logo). Our main business is the hotel for dogs, so you can use images of dogs, paws etc, just don't overdo it.

Main page:
* In the "content area" of the main page, there should be spaces for one picture and some text about each of the services offered, specially the hotel, wich should be larger than the others, because it's our main business.
* Small space for banners of animal protection NGOs like WWF, Green Peace, etc.

Menu: Horizontal or vertical menu, it's up to you. It should include one menu entry for each one of the following items:

• Hotel (dog hotel)
• Fotos (pictures of the "guests" of the hotel)
• Pet Shop (store selling products for pets)
• Banho e Tosa (pet grooming)
• Consultório Veterinário (veterinary)
• Terapias (therapies, such as shiatsu, reiki, etc)
• Educação Canina (canine education)
• Taxi Dog (taxi for dogs)
• Bem-estar Animal (animal wellfare)
• Contato (contact)

I've included a brief english description of each item so you know what are they about, don't include it on the website.

Contest Deliverables:
Website: Design only, no code. Adobe Photoshop .PSD format, 2 files: "main/home page" and "inside page".
You must supply the fonts and any other source materials used.

Deadline: July 20, 2010 at 9pm
We reserve the right to extend the deadline for a maximum of another 6 days if no satisfactory entries are posted. The winner will be chosen (name posted in the thread) and paid in no longer than 48 hours after the deadline.

My Entry!! Don't know how you feel..

 

stardesigns99: nice design, I like it. Feedback:
* The arrangement of the pictures and the text in the "What we offer" part is very nice!
* I also liked the way you integrated the logo with the menu
* The overall design is very good but is a bit simple, maybe include a bit of gloss or some other kind of detail/effect to "catch the eye" a little more (don't overdo it).
* The "ads" section would probably look better in horizontal, below the "what we offer" section (instead of the text on the bottom of the page), so they don't draw excessive attention
* There is a lot of empty space on top of the horizontal menu. Maybe a header with some images of dogs would look nice (or maybe not, you are the designer). Another option would be to strech other elements of the logo such as the sun, sky, clouds etc to the right. If you want, can send you (via e-mail) the Adobe Illustrator file of the logo so you can use the individual elements of the logo to make a header if you want. These are just some ideas for the header, maybe you can think of something better, feel free to use your creativity however you want.

For those who haven't submitted their entries yet, don't worry, I'll wait.

I feel that the contest holders should be as honest as possible on their feedback, so the designers have a chance to keep improving their work and a better chance to revise their entries and possibly win the contest. That being said, here is the feedback:

robi09:
* Fun, colorful designs are good, however I think this is a bit too colorful or the colors did not match/integrate very well, I'm not sure exactly what is it... The content of the page (squares on top of white background) is a bit too "plain", too "basic", also seems like the squares don't integrate very well with the overall design, as they were boxes stacked or "pasted together" in the design, probably adjusting the colors and adding a little more detail would improve overall the design.
* All of the menu items should be on a single menu, your design has 2 sepparata menus
* The header has too much empty space (green), maybe put something in there or make the green stipe thinner (leaving half the logo outside it) or something
* There is no space for banners, as requested

* The design is clean, somewhat professional, thats good, but it's probably a bit too clean, maybe add some more to it
* The header is too big and it would probably look better without the text in the orange box, that text may be below (outside) the header
* The menu is missing some items
* The center of the page is nice but it needs some improvement, eg: the text is wider than the green/orange bars (it would probably look better if they were the same width), there is too much blank space above the row of dog pics,
* There are too much text links in the bottom of the page, they are not necessary

Yes, I can extend the deadline a little bit, please let me know how much time you need.
* Your design is really cute and fun, I see you put a lot of work into it and you certainly won the cuteness award . I personally like this, but for the business it could be just a bit more "professional" or "serious". Just a bit, not too much, don't loose the overall fun/cute quality (eg ennn's design is too much "serious"). Maybe you can balance this without much change in the overall design, maybe by arranging the content in the white area in a slightly more "professional/serious" way, I'm not sure...
* The dog is very nice but it's a slightly different cartoon style than the ones in the logo (the ones in the logo have no shading, they have black outlines, different eye style, etc)
* The wood behind the menu is nice, however it looks a bit "rustic". Our hotel is not a luxury hotel compared to international standards but it's probably the most "luxurious" in our area, we don't need to make the web site luxurious but I guess that the other extreme (rustic) is not very beneficial to the business image.
* The menu is missing lots of items, it's very important that all those items are included in the menu
* If possible, I'd like to see some content in the white area, as specified in the contest post.

Well I would need 24 hours max, but maybe I'll manage to finish it even tonight (+ revisions). In my design I wanted it to match the logo because it's cute and cartoonish. Also, animals are firstly cute, so maybe a design that's like them would be good? I will try to add some better (luxurious) wood and change the dog. Do you have any particular dog/animal that you already found and what me to add it? I also was thinking of placing the navigation under the wooden area or in the right box because it can't fit in the wooden area? The site will look much more professional after I fill it with content

removed the space in the footer

things to improve:
I'll add some buttons so that the menu would look nice.
maybe I'll add some backgroung in the content between the header of each item and the footer - the one with the line and the paw.
