$150 is a decent budget if you really know how to coordinate a web development project. You really, really should not post all this work in a contest. It's not fair and borderline disrespectful. You should have them post a general design and a mockup of ONE button. You can then choose a winner based on the general design. Presently you are asking for HOURS AND HOURS of work with no guarantee of payment. Once a winner is chosen, then they can finish it to your liking. Just make sure to post how many revisions are expected after the mockup. I usually do two: 1) I tell them the variations I want and ask for at least 4-5 slight variations of the design and then once I choose the design I ask for 2) 4-5 color variations. Of course if you have a logo, this should be designed first IMHO. If you don't want to do it this way, a budget of $450-$600 sounds about right.
The economy of this forum has been in decline for a long time mate, and I do wholeheartedly agree with what you are writing. Living in the UK, $150 isn't going to pay for much and it's not really worth me spending 5-10 hours on it when i can be doing my client's work for £30 per hour. The problem is that while there are people willing to work for so little (you see the amount of entries for a $50 template contest...) then nobody is going to stop offering small sums of money as a prize. I only enter a few contests myself and always/usually ones with a high compensation. However, nobody is forcing people to enter this or any other contest so the contestants are clearly happy with the conditions of the contest. If you're not happy with it, you don't need to enter.
Well, this is you. So far i have 2 entries. 1 was probably done in 10 minutes, which brings this to 1 entry with potential... You might enter the big $$$ contest but the competition is a lot higher and the overall quality is also tough competition. Back to this case, right now i have only 1 design. If i get about 3-4 desigs i will most likely pick one, therefore if you are talented your chances are pretty high 1 in 4. If you take the fact that non-talented designers also submit your chances could be as high as 50%. In the other hand, you go only for big contest, there´s 8-10 designers and the competition is tougher. It is a matter of decision and necessity. I doubt you will spend 10 hours to send a concept. Tks
Bellow is a sample of a design i like. The menu is on the right and is text only, but the overall concept is nice. In the testimonials area i would prefer the icons as i said. The top bar is too small, i would prefer buttons on it. Font a but too small. The Contact us form would need work to stand out more. The overall idea is something in these terms. Color theme preferred: lighter colors: aqua, light blue, blue, pink, light brown... something that will appeal to women. If possible add curves and a flow to the design, something smooth since we are dealing with aesthetics. Any questions contact me. PS: THE CONTEST WILL BE EXTENDED FOR 3-4 DAYS. I THINK I WILL HAVE AT LEAST 4 GOOD ENTRIES BY THEN.
I hope you weren't offended by what I wrote as it wasn't intended to be taken that way. I was just really saying what I thought was happening on the forum. Nothing to do with you personally. It's obvious that if you can find people willing to do work for small amounts, then it makes good business sense to use them. So i'm not knocking you mate. Good luck with the contest anyway!
ya, I got your PM today. this says it ends on the 28th... (which is today) is it extended, and if so when too?
DaveyBoy - No, no problem at all. I was just pointing out the positive side of a few contest which not a lot of people enter. Less competition, skill level of contestants fluctuates, higher chances of winning. 1 or 2 designs that are submitted by skilled designers will most likely win this, and for 3-4 hours work. This will account for $40-50 an hour... Not that bad afterall...
THIS CONTEST HAS BEEN EXTENDED FOR 4 DAYS. I WOULD LIKE TO REVIEW AT LEAST 4 CONCEPTS BEFORE MAKING A DECISION.
ok, I don't think I will be able to make an entry before then... If this is extended over the weekend however I will probably enter...
For those who plan to submit. A plastic surgery website has to look elegant, professional. Make sure you take a look at these websites bellow, they are simple designs but look professional, have an easy to contact form and the header is attractive. http://www.yourplasticsurgeryguide.com/ http://www.landauercosmeticsurgery.co.uk/ http://www.cosmeticsurgeryconsultants.co.uk/ please pm if you have questions regards
hey, I'm just wondering... and specific width you want? I usually go for 900px unless I hear otherwise.
