$150 Logo/Header Contest - Web 2.0 Format

To celebrate the Grand Opening of WebmasterPost.com, the contest for the new header and logo for DeluxeNames.com & DeluxeHost.com is now open and will end Saturday, December 16th. The winning designs will use the Web 2.0 format as seen in the examples of this thread: http://yh.yayhooray.com/thread/90661...-format?page=1

If you may be interested in participating, please post a "I might enter" post here in this thread.

Please use the "attachment" option in vBulletin (when you go to post a thread, you'll click on "Manage Attachments"). Please submit your entries to this thread: http://www.webmasterpost.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3787

Web 2.0 format is basically using rounded corrners, lots of gradient, Out-lines (also known as strokes, especailly outlined letters), fun colors, the "shadow" affect (aka: "shading"), and different fonts (not just "ariel" or "times new roman"). This format sometimes gives logos a "shinnyness" to them, but doesn't have to. (if anyone can explain this better than I, feel free and thank you).

To enter, you will be submitting two versions but they will be exactly the same except replace the word "Names" with the word "Host" in your second version. So really, the two versions will be virtually identical.

I don't like the current design and logo but you can view it at: www.DeluxeNames.com. The current design and colors of the site will be changed to match the winning header so the header should not be based on the current design of the site. The height of the header should be around 116px high and the width should be at least 745px.

I am open to any color choices. My favorite colors are blues, and white.

One of the keys to winning is to use a web 2.0 logo, not just the words "DeluxeNames" and "DeluxeHost". This logo could be some abstract rendering of "Deluxe" or just something totally abstract and yet fitting.

Please use this slogan on the "DeluxeNames" header:
"Owning a Domain Means People Can Find You...Anywhere"

Please use this slogan on the "DeluxeHost" header:
"Hosting At It's Best: Quality & Integrity"

The winner will need to provide the layered header image, and logo with a transparent background.

Besides the pride of your art being displayed for all to see at DeluxeNames.com and DeluxeHost.com, you will receive $150 USD via Paypal (from a verified Paypal account). Please post your entry here in this thread and the Moderators (who don't enter the contest) and I will be the judges. The Moderators and I will then review and vote and the winner will be chosen and paid by 11pm EST on Sunday, December 17th.

This a creative way to make the "x" be the logo. Maybe use a green for the "x" instead of a red.

Instead of a white background, maybe try a background.

    Good start :)

Note to all: Until December 11th, I will only be online twice as I'm on cruise ship in the Caribean Ocean (Roayle Caribean) and interenet access onboard is very expensive.

I'll probably log back in again in 2 days
    Thanks for your understanding.

Great question, 1 winner will be selected from the combined entries at WebmasterPost and DigitalPoint.

I first started the contest on my own forum, www.WebmasterPost.com, but since DigitalPoint has a much larger audience, realized it would be smart to run it on both sites at the same time.

Update: SNK and any other interested contestants for this design contest. Prior to opening the contest up in this thread at DP, I had already opened up the contest at a www.NamePros.com at this thread: http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?p=1614000&posted=1#post1614000

The Moderator at NamePros has informed me that according to their rules, if I'm to run a contest there, I would not be able to run it here.

This contest is still open, just not at DP. SNK and anyone else that has already created an entry will still be included in this contest. PM me if you have any questions.

I must kindly ask the Moderators here to close this thread as otherwise I'm breaking their rules.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Its not nice to hold contest in two places. What would happen if you ran the contest and you chose someone on the other forum ? You would probably abandon this thread. And contestents here would wait and wait without any results. That is bad. Since this forum does not have rules and the other forum have rules you are staying with the other forum and abandoning it here!
Unfortunately the contestents here are facing this problem quite often now.
Good luck with your contest :)

You are right Brain, and I'm very sorry. I will not exclude anyone that has started making a logo here. I love Digital Point, I really do. I started it first at Namepros, there are already so many contestants there, and only one here so the most logical thing is to run it there.
Again, I'm very sorry for any inconvenience

I've seen a lot of contest such as this. I mean run in various platforms. Definitely this is not a good practice. Just want to give my opinion and create a great ambience in DP
