This contest is to design 30 screens for a mobile app. For the first step in the contest I only need three screens to be designed (not developed). The winner of this contest will be paid $25 for the first three screens. The Winner will be paid the rest of the money ($125) after the other 27 screens are designed. You are designing the screens only, NOT the phone. It is important the the designs are created as PSDs for retina iPhone screens. All questions and submissions must be submitted through the thread. I will not take any PM-ed designs or questions. The contest is for 72 hours or until a clear winner is chosen. Let me know through the thread if you have any questions. This is a coloring app for children. Make your design attractive to a child. Here is the logo for the app and the color palette.
ClaudiuGabriel, Please note the instructions that the hello tags each need to be a different color, and each of them needs to have an image attached to the end of it to appeal to either a boy or a girl. The instructions will tell you what image needs to be applied to the right side of each tag. Thanks for the quick response time. Kelly
RussDesigner, thank you for the submission. I think you are headed down the right road with this. The user for this app will be those children who are too young to own their own phone, so will be using their parent's phone. Most of them will not be able to read, so the highly visual is great! A couple of thoughts for you. Screen 1, We need to make the choice for the children obvious that the one image represents their parent and the other image is them. Screen two - I love it just the way it is. Screen three, the paint brushes, and ultimately, the crayons or spray cans that show up in the bottom right of the phone will be a strip of brushes that is swiped left and right. there are 32 colors in all. Perhaps fit one more brush in there to make five visible at all times? Also, if you put a pencil-style paint brush up top, then the paint brushes displaying at the bottom of the screen will need to match. I want the line that is drawn with the brush to be wider than that of the crayon (which you put in as a pencil), and the paint can to be a spray (which the developer will deal with). Also, go ahead and make the screen drawing surface taller. It doesn't have to be square. This information is good for one and all to read. Hopefully we will have a couple more join the contest before we are finished. Thanks!
The contest will close within the next 24 hours or so. I need to check with my client to see what his opinions are on the submissions so far, but he is in meetings all morning today.
Great look! Screen's 1 and 2 are fine. Screen 3 needs just a couple of adjustments. Since the main users are very little children, the color palette needs to be replaced with a swipe strip of colors the child can choose from. RussDesigners last entry with the colored dots is a good example, and I like that there are at least five colors showing. On the top of screen three we are only planning on having a crayon, paint brush, and a spray can. The marker can be deleted, and the pencil needs to be a crayon. Is the art work stock pieces we would need to buy?
RussDesigner, let's go back to your first version of Screen 1, but make the Parents and Kids buttons. I really like the design work! On screen 2, will you follow Alex's lead and make the Hello tags into images with a text field? That will solve some problems for us with text length of the children's names. Good work. Thanks.
Frikusha, thank you for the submission. This is approaching what we are looking for, but my main focus, besides having the elements all working together, is to have a design that will appeal to the children. Both RussDesign and Alex's images are great in the child appeal department.
@kelbo Looking at what Alex has now, it seems he has a hello tag with a white space underneath and a image to the right. This is pretty much what I have as well. I seem to be missing exactly what you mean when you say "images with a text field". Clarification would be greatly appreciated!
hey, thank you for feedback though im the only one here that actually draw original design like parents & kids icons so that is why mine isnt in their rang but if i am allowed to use sites like www.freepik.com, all-free-download.com & stock images like they do please let me know and will make better design. thank you
I don't have a problem with paying for good artwork. If you want to use those resources, please do. Just be sure to tell me so we know what we are getting ourselves into.
As a general announcement, so that we are all on the same page, I need to make it clear that original artwork is great. Purchased artwork is fine too. If you are using someone else's art in your design, we need to stay legal, so please be sure to tell me if we will need to include attributions for artwork or if we will need to purchase pieces of your design before we can use it. We just want a great design that is also legal to produce. Thanks for all your hard work.
