    I'd argue the usage of some points from the list, many Twitter members don't allow to follow them, unless they give you permit, the same thing is with direct messaging

    Well, if you simply retweet others' posts, if won't be too helpful. At the same time, if you speak on the trendy topics (with proper hashtags added) - you can make your account more noticeable

    What I've recently found is that using Ajax and jQuery, Twitter is not showing at all the tweets at peek hours when the server is overloaded so no matter how hard you work on getting your account noticeable if people can load your page but the tweets never show off.
