I am anything but pleased at these developments. The issue is a matter of perspective...both sides have suffered and have some justice. It is a strange world where to protest massacre is conflated with hate. You seem decent, too. Believe me, there is much anger, but no hate. I weep for Israel.

There were also a lot of Arabs there pre-1948...their rights are what has been ignored for too long. This is the issue that has had the Arab world up in arms.

Israel was created in the wake of a war by avowed terrorists. Immigrants flooded in from the wreckage of the Holocaust and as refugees from the Soviet occupation. This is well and good. I support the safety of these people. I am related to some of them.

Unfortunately, the government of Israel has evolved into a militaristic oligarchy, racially oppressive and prone to mistreat the natives. This is common...it happened to the Native Americans, and nearly all of Africa. Asia is rife with it as well.

Many of us regret the slaughter and ghettoization that has historically been a part of Western civilization. This is an example in progress, in real time, and the displaced Palestinians are indigenous people.

As I have said before, I became active in this issue because I feel that the world is united in finding new ways to deal with such problems. Only my own country, the US, protects the leaders from international condemnation. Therefore, I must work to balance the view. There is a lot the average American does not know about Israel's poor human rights record.

I do NOT support Hamas, militant Islam, or any sectarian religion. And I don't hate Israel, or any of the people in it. The propaganda machine has painted these issues with a broad brush. I support equal governments which support human rights for all. If Israel becomes that, I will withdraw my objections.

The crimes of Hamas do not wipe away the humanitarian violations which helped make them so popular. This has been going on for a very long time.

Whenever Israeli policy hurts unarmed people, there is a great cry directing us to the suffering of the Israeli people. The suffering of the Palestinians seems not to matter at all. They "deserve it." If innocent, they should have "gotten away from Hamas."

BUT I POST TODAY IN THE NAME OF RACHEL CORRIE, my sister in peace, who died in Gaza before the current invasion and would surely speak out if she were here.

The Qassad rockets have a very short range, this is why Sderot is the subject of the thread. I have never suggested that all Jews evacuate ISRAEL, this is madness. Merely move out of the range of the missiles until an accord is struck. Surely this would be better than war.

If all of this world-shattering warfare is coming from a few dozen rockets landing in a limited zone, relocating the people there is not unreasonable. This is, after all what the IDF told the Gazans to do.

However, I want to address a confusion my Israeli friends seem to insist on. I do not support the "destruction" of Israel. I do not wish the harm of anyone.

I DO regard Israel as a classic example of an apartheid state. And the occupied territories are not sovereign; autonomy is an illusion. How can you be autonomous when your water is stolen, your supplies cut off, your politics meddled with, and your chosen leadership criminalized?

So if peace requires a new, secular, equal constitution for the land now called Israel, I support that. I'm not a big fan of governments. I don't consider them identical with countries. And this government has been a big turd to the world. Don't take my word for it, just look at the UN resolutions against Israeli actions.

We've been trying to think of a new name for the non-sectarian state...."Mediterranea" might be nice...or "Ca'nanistein".

It is pathetic how day in and day out you spend you time trying to justify the destruction of Israel.

Get over it, Israel is not going anywhere. So instead of wasting lives trying to destroy Israel the Palestinians should be working on building a Palestinian state.

It is sad that you can't accept that Jews have been and will always be living there. Worse yet, your attitude is the reason Israel is constantly fighting for its survival - because people like you still expect the Jews to pack up and leave or be killed.

Sorry, I didn't ment to say you literaly. I ment to say those who caused that tragedy eg. "your side" if you know what I mean.

I used multiquote option and that was quote from ohad.

Actually as I can see it Israelis and their supporters can't handle the truth and they try to convince everyone else that we are too stupid to see real "truth". Too sad!

UN officials claims something completly diferent.

Nonsense. It's just your excuse for killing so many civilians. As F33l1ngz and brwtown pointed out there can be mistakes during fighting but you deny such mistakes and always blame other side because of huma shileds.

Forgot to close one quote :/

Yeah, there will be mistakes in any war. The IDF even killed 4 of it's own soldiers as I said. So what are we arguing about?

All these so-called "propagandas" and arguendos are actually offshoots of the war. Nobody ever
shows willingness to give in nor give way, everybody exalts each one's cause, attributes guilt and
damnation to the opposite side. That's war, and the devil relishes in all of these. All the more it
becomes very urgent for everything to be resolved for the good of all. Let us all hope
and pray that well-meaning parties will finally find the very elusive formula for mutually acceptable
compromises and make effective settlement between all protagonists. The United Nations, keyheaded by recognized and respected world powers should be able to bring the Hamas and Israelis together in a
discussion forum to thresh out every single kink and cause everyone to accord due respect and
    compassion for each other.

The UN doesn't want you to know that terrorists shoot mortars from UN's school ;)

I didn't say that there are no mistakes. Even 4 IDF soldiers died in an accident. But Hamas using civilians and their houses, schools and hospitals as human shields.
Hamas terrorists-animals firing rockets from a school in Gaza: http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ClipMediaID=1394724
This is nonsense and bullshit too?
