$15 Logo Design Contest

I'm looking for a logo for a new PC/console/handheld video gaming news/blog site. I may update this post as I become inspired by the submissions.

• The logo should look professional, distinctive, and interesting.
• I haven't nailed down a color scheme, but am leaning towards dark gray/black + either a "neon" orange or blue.
• The background can be either white or black.
• The logo can be just text, or text with a single image/icon.
• An image/icon doesn't have to be video game-related; I'm not necessarily looking for a stereotypical icon of a game controller, game character, etc.
• The logo must be in a vector format.
• The winning entry will become fully my property upon receipt of payment, but can be used in the winner's own portfolio.

The text for the logo is "Gamer Kore" but it can also be written as "gamer kore", "GamerKore", "gamerkore", on 1 line or 2, or just about any way you can imagine.

I'll do my best to provide regular feedback.

If I could add something based on the submissions so far, it's that I'm looking for something with a bit of an edge to it. For some reason, my mind keeps coming back to the X-Play logo, although I hesitate to mention that because I don't want to see a bunch of uninspired knock-offs.

eddybf - Too simplistic and not very interesting, and the orange should be less rusty; the gray darker. Thanks for your submission!

I've received a few other submissions by IM, but would love to see more... there's no clear winner as of yet.

 

I came across this, and thought I'd show it in the hopes of inspiring something. I can envision one of those spheres with an image/icon of some sort in between the words "gamer kore."

 

Just in case there are some last-minute stragglers, less than 12 hours to go.

scorpionagency - Not a fan of the illustration. The text isn't bad, if not terribly distinctive.

lilc09 - The green doesn't work for me, but that's an easy fix. I'm looking for something with a bit more of an edge to it; not quite as mainstream perhaps.

There's less than 4 hours to go, but I've got a temporary logo I whipped up today on my site... I may end up keeping it, I don't know. It can be seen here.
