15 links? Is a sitemap necessary

Hi,

For sites with about 15 pages, all of which are accessible from the home page is it necessary to have a sitemap or is it a protocol to always be followed?

With millions of websites to be indexed, sitemaps provide the much needed assistance. Not necessary for small websites with webpages directly linked to the homepage.

 

Whether your pages are directly linked to the home page or not, having a sitemap facilitates better crawling and indexing by the google. Hence having one will be better

 

I strongly doubt that it would make any difference to a site with just 15 pages but as there are so many free sitemap generators around it wouldn't hurt putting one up.

 

If you have framed your link in the way that Search Engine can read your page contents, there is no need to submit the sitemaps.

 

A sitemap will not hurt, though. Personally I would recommend making one.

I think sitemap provide the user a proper navigation through which the used can esaily go to the web page where he/she wants. Moreover it is well populated in search engine

 

I agree with TehDon, it will not affect your site negatively, but it might affect it positively. And for a 15 pager site, creating a sitemp will only take a few moments of your precious time. Soo, it is not really necessary but I don't see any reason why you should not create one.

 

Yes apt answer, when sitemap facilitates better crawling and indexing of web pages, why not to create one even for small websites.
