This contest is for a client, he is needing a professional logo for Web Hosting company that mainly deals with Shared Hosting and VPS. This is the details I have so far; Width: 500px Height: 500px Resolution: 300px Background: Transparent or White (#FFFFFF) Color Scheme: #3772C6 #000000 and #FFFFFF may be used I will post more information when I receive it, and this contest will end when my client makes his selection. I'm trying to convince him to come to the boards, but we'll see how that goes. Best of Luck
At this time I don't think he's wanting a theme or slogan. I believe it's just a Logo design, I've already dropped him a email to see what I can figure out on it.
This is just a small update, not much. The color's that I listed were confirmed to what he's is wanting used. When I asked him what he'd like added as far as a company name, and he replied saying that it's a new venture he's getting into, there is no actual name for it at this time, but the name will be normal font, using a black/blue combo when he get's to that point. As far as design wise, I've sent him the sample I received from rockinaway. He responded saying that was nothing close to what he's wanting, he's wanting a Web 2.0 type appearance, with a design to represent the Web Hosting business, something of a Server or Workstation, anywhere around that but not of actual pictures, just vectorized images. I'll give more details when available.
He just explained, it has no name at the minute, so just write 'example' or a key word, and then if you get chosen, you can change it to the companies name!
If your client is really looking for a professional logo, there are two options: postpone the project or come up with a name (or let us make suggestions for a name). And I believe it´s your task to tell him. I know it sounds arrogant, but a designer makes decisions. It´s not illustration or ornamentation, but making something look a certain way for certain reasons. Your client hasn´t understood what a logo is, so he automatically wants to resemble those of his competitors, which is the worst thing to do. A customer can´t tell the difference between webhosting providers so he has to guess - in that case of virtually the same products a logo can make the difference. With the information provided so far, the client would be better off using his real name + "webhosting", picking a certain font and maybe a single color. Show him a selection of good (usable, smart and unique) logos like SUN or Apple and ask him what they would look like if you changed the name. They wouldn´t change, they would disappear.
Here here to that (needing a name)... but I still was challenged by the complete lack of info and gave it a crack. Enjoy
