I am part of a business networking group of 15 other small business owners. In the group there is a - auto repair shop - health and safety company - printing company - photographer - removals and storage etc etc What would be the most effective website to promote all of these businesses under one website OR does anyone know any good examples of small businesses who already promote themseleves via a communal website? (each of the businesses does have their own website already)
I would create a community site. www.mytownname.com then you can have a directory which you can list each business. with 15 business sponsoring the site you should be able to get things together rather quickly.
I think first that you have to explain what you mean by "promote all these businesses" if you want them each individually to rank high and with good serp for their own keywords, then, I don't think them being on one site or 200 site is going to change the fact that you still need good contents and good backlinks for each one of them. one site or not. doesn't matter. I am not sure if that's what you meant though.
all business are belongs to different market it is good to create different website for each business and promote separately.
Hello Are you talking about Promoting business on net of Promoting website .... both have different concept and have different method of Promotion.... Unless your views get clear .. no boby help you ... thanks arun
Create a portal site with all of the businesses listed on the first page, with links to your individual businesses webpages. Feature a different business each month, and rotate the links. You can call yourselves an association, use your city or county name, or whatever other name you come up with. For example: www.portlandguide.com or portlandassociationofethicalbusinessmen.com - that domain name is probably a bit too long, you shouldn't use more than 25 letters unless you have to, but you get the idea. A video portal would probably draw the most traffic, because you could use videos of your customers saying what they like about doing business with you to add credibility and create backlinks from the video sites - after you submit them to YouTube etc., of course. If you do a google search for "portal website templates" you'll find many examples of what has worked for others. Choose what you like and then hire a webmaster to pull it together for you.
Thanks for all those suggestions - I really like the idea of a video portal. and yes, portlandguide.com is a real classy site!
Generally, there are a lot of "parent companies" out there with websites. One of the ones that pops to my head would be Yum Brands which is the parent company for KFC, Pizza Hut, A&W, Taco Bell, and several other fast food restaurants. As I look at their website, it appears that they are trying to get investors with the information they are giving directly on the front page. Is this something you are trying to do? The real question is, what is this website going to accomplish? If you are just creating a website to create a website, I think that's fairly useless just to be honest. You have to have some purpose for creating it.
I think a directory is the best option. Its not quite internet marketing, but you could try pooling those companies together and creating a coupon book or somethiing to promote the businesses.
