People aren't idiots. Facebook are idiots.
Their user base are largely poor college students, and high schoolers without credit cards.
However, pretty much any FREE offer is banned. When I toyed with this, right when the tricks came out. I've had "Personal Training" gym software banned(free trial). I've had magazines(free trial/pay at end) banned. I've had dating services banned. Scholarship Offers? They filtered the word "scholarship", and yup, ban. Ringtones/Anything with a cell phone involved? Banned. Surveys? Banned. Free IPod/Phone/Whatever. Banned. Free videogames/consoles? Banned. Free Demo Anti-Spyware software? Banned(on suspicion of being spyware I imagine?).
Even many paying products get banned.
    "Power Hour DVD" - Banned.
    Home Breathalyzer - Banned.
Every Herb you can think of, and some you can't - Banned.

It would be an incredible system if it weren't for facebook admins.

good luck with this...anything that smells remotely of affiliate links they'll shut you down. even if you use pictures that "match" what your'e doing (.ie. dating offer and you put a picture of a couple), they'll deem that incorrect and shut you down.

you have to have an actual product to sell to not get shut down. not great results with that either but hey...at least it's still running for me.

I don't think this is something you could carry on with long term, or even make money out of now. It only takes somebody doing this a couple of times and making some big money before the powers that be cotton on and pull the plug. Kudos to the guy for making his money though, that's opportunism at it's very best, and some of the wealthiest people in the world have built their careers on that very thing.

Facebook ads suck big time. I wonder how much money they would be making if they did allow all those domains and ads on that they banned?

I can understand exactly what FaceBook are doing here.

they won't a quality user experience so want to get rid of the "free" offers because they often result in people getting lots of email they don't want, these people will then blame facebook for it.

FaceBook appears to be going after the advertiser that wants to build branding on local or national levels.

Maybe, but they wont have much of a network, if they only allow advertisers who look for branding. Besides, branding is done mostly with graphical banner ads and not with text ads.

True... it will be interesting to see how it plays out and if they open their doors a little more.

I was able to sneak an email submit offer and was able to cash in on about $1000 profit in a week. But then after showing the same ad to the same people 7 days in a row ctr drops as do the margins.

it can still work out unless they close out the whole thing? myspace might be a way to go if their trafic is hitting up like facebook does, right now, myspace is filled up with cam girls!

Good luck with that captcha. The best I could swing was 2% OCR recognition+a 3 day splitting headache. I know a few who did slightly better, but still.

Actually browsing around facebook it appears to now be dominated with graphical ads - I haven't really looked into the facebook ad system a lot but it does appear that they are indeed targeting the large scale advertiser interested in branding.

Yep, that's what you have to do when you provide a CTR around 0 - say "it's great for branding!"

If I want Graphical ads for a "holy crap that's a lot of money" contract, i'll go with Yahoo over Facebook.
