Upper right area in the navbar you can now link your Google Analytics account to get a quick view for whatever site you select (daily, weekly and monthly show). You can also pick the metric you care about. It updates hourly and is AJAX enabled so it will update on the fly.
Anyone notice this stuff yet next to your profile.... I clicked it once and read this.... Grant us access to your data The only time we ever access your data is to get the summary report to display at the top of the forum when you are logged in. We never know your Google login or password (you are taken to a google.com page to do this) and you can revoke access from your Google Account at any time. Click here to begin. The powers that be may want to give us a heads up(sure, its fair to assume I missed the memo on this) but why? My analytics account has about 100 clients in it.... chime in please, Nigel Edit, that is not what I typed as the title to this thread either.
This is excellent features for me and I think it will be good for us to check stats at DP without login in GA. It shows this things:
A really good feature, it should come in handy for monitoring one of my sites whilst browsing DP. Thanks!
For all those SEO Gurus. This is gonna be awesome... Thanks to Shawn for another GREAT EFFORT for making DP the best.
I just got an infraction for posting a duplicate thread(the one posted at 10:34 above). I did not post this twice. It was moved by a moderator or someone with the ability to do so. I posted my original thread in the general chat forum. This place is nuts. Last week I got one for answering someone's question. Nigel
I put together a quick FAQ about it: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=dp_faq#faq_analytics_link
OMG, this is awesome! I always hate having to manually log-in to my Analytics account just to check my site's stats, this is just another reason out of the already many ones to come to DP.
I would never use this feature since its the same as placing your confidential information on the street. Nice feature but not for me guys. Thanks. Maybe DP's team should start working on a nicer layout instead of useless options if you ask me!
If you ask me, that doesn't seem to be an opinion coming from a webmaster at all. I dunno, but one would know to appreciate such an option. I am confused how you could not appreciate the convenience by having this feature on DP. Besides, no information is stored whatsoever, I read the FAQ before using it myself because like everyone else I have my reservations when it comes to sharing information online, but just as I expected only I am able to view my data. It's so much easier this way, it's like hitting 2 birds with one stone. Instead of having to log in to 2 sites to check different things, I'll only need to go to just one now. I really hope more features like this gets implemented, this was something I never expected for Digitalpoint to add & it was such a pleasant surprise. I love the convenience. I can now honestly say, there's no better forum than DP.
Hmmm... if someone wants fast access to their google analytics there probably already are firefox add-ons, mac os x / vista widgets readily available. I don't see much use in this unless it could be shared somehow.
Everyone that wants it can download it.. That's the point I mean, this website can't do everything for everyone. I think there's more pressing matters that this forum needs to focus on than this, but hey.. Anyway, I'm not against it, just finding it a bit useless. To each his own
Shawn, Great addition to the forum, and thanks! I think it saves us time from having to log into a couple of places vrs. once. For those people who say there is a FF plugin that does the same - some of us do not use FF, so this plugin is useful to us. Don, I saw your message in that other thread I started. I did not know this one was going on, so my apologies.
Nice feature ... I first thought it's about your analytics on dp forums like how many times your profile get visited and how many times your thread/post ads get clicked lol but well nice one but hard luck i can just add one website for this... Right? Thanks PHYza
