Payment to Winner: $40 via Paypal. 2ND place winner gets $10. I need a design for the cover of a book. Dimension: 442x682 Background: I need a cover for a book about online PR and online press releases. The idea is that rather than get a newspaper, magazine, radio or television station to look at your news you start online. Then you get search engine placement, on Google News and Yahoo News, on social networks/blogs (Twitter, Delicious, Facebook). Then it might also be picked up by mainstream media. TITLE: I Need a Killer Press Release, Now What?!? A Guide to Online PR Author: Janet Meiners Thaeler Guidelines: 1- Keep the design and font simple. The graphic must look good when it's seen as a thumbnail. You must be able to read the title and get the concept quickly. 2- DO NOT use a newspaper or a mouse in the design unless it's creative. I already have a design with a newspaper coming out of a computer screen and one with a mouse coming out of a newspaper and don't like them. 3 - I like this design of a book by the same publisher: http://happyabout.info/twitter/tweet2success.php 4 - I'll attach the one I like best. I would choose it but the book is not about Twitter. Unless you can incorporate small birds and not make it the main focus, don't use birds in the design. This is a 24 hour contest. The winner gets $40 and second place gets $10. I will try to leave feedback as you submit your entries. Contest ends at 4pm MST on Tuesday June 23, 2009. THANK YOU!!
I'm sorry I'm new - not sure what you mean to guarantee this contest. Not sure what you mean by the 2nd question either - are you asking if I want all the text on the cover? Yes I do. The full title, subtitle and author should be on the design. Thanks Janet
rather then having it in simple straight cover form i suggest u to have it in a paperback form.. here is my entry, also available in straight paper form. Will be waiting for your feedback ~sikka~
Thanks for the entries! I want to clarify that you can use a bird, just don't make it the complete focus of the cover or it looks like it's about Twitter. Twitter is only a small piece of the subject of the book. Here is something you can use for a totally different direction (it's from a story in the book). I got permission from the owner of these graphics: Feel free to use our story or anything you find on the blog (http://www.carsforagrand.com/road-trip/). My favorite picture is probably the one from San Diego : (http://www.carsforagrand.com/road-trip/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/img_0328.jpg) Thanks Janet
The contest runs until this afternoon - it was a typo that I can't fix. It is a 24 hour design contest. Thank you for your entries. The publisher wants a straight on shot - not one showing pages. sikka It looks good! Here is some feedback: I don't like the CDs coming out of the side, but otherwise good. The bottom where my name is - could you make it not have black? I'd rather not use a cursive font for my name. And as I said above, no pages needed, just a straight shot of the cover. Thanks! Janet
My favorite is the one with the computer...I like the clean design - and some that are PMs. Please submit your design on the forum rather than DM me. The biggest challenge is the graphic on the front. If I make it too "twitter" and it's not as popular in a year or so, the book will be outdated. The idea of good PR is to come up with a killer idea that spreads online. Don't worry about using the graphics from the blog - I think it confuses everyone. Thanks for your input and designs so far! this one is a smaller version only for preview purpose ...... The original one is the size u asked for. feedback plzz
you should mention the name of the person's design you're talking about so that we could understand who's the feedback directing to. i would really like to know what is not good at my design so that i can change it. thank you
